their own conscience; this is a voluntary oversight. Sometimes we also do something forbidden out of ignorance; this is an involuntary oversight. Concerning such things the blessed David also prayed, saying: Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from my secret faults, that is, from sins committed in ignorance. Knowing these things, therefore, let us fear God, and let us keep His commandments according to our ability. For the whole of our salvation lies in compassions and in the philanthropy of the judge; through whom, and with whom, to the Father be glory with the Holy Spirit, now and forever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

ἑαυτῶν τὸ συνειδός· τοῦτο ἑκούσιον παρόραμα. Ἔσθ' ὅτε καὶ κατὰ ἄγνοιαν ἐργαζόμεθά τι τῶν ἀπηγορευμένων· τοῦτο ἀκούσιον παρόραμα. Περὶ τῶν τοιούτων καὶ ὁ μακάριος ∆αυῒδ ηὔχετο λέγων· Παραπτώματα τίς συνήσει; Ἐκ τῶν κρυφίων μου καθάρισόν με, τῶν κατὰ ἄγνοιαν δηλονότι πλημμεληθέντων. Ταῦτα οὖν ἐγνωκότες, τὸν Θεὸν φοβηθῶμεν, καὶ τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτοῦ τηρήσωμεν κατὰ τὴν ἑαυτῶν δύναμιν. Τὸ γὰρ ὅλον ἡμῶν τῆς σωτηρίας ἐν οἰκτιρμοῖς κεῖται, καὶ τῇ τοῦ κριτοῦ φιλανθρωπίᾳ· δι' οὗ, καὶ μεθ' οὗ τῷ Πατρὶ δόξα σὺν τῷ ἁγίῳ Πνεύματι, νῦν καὶ ἀεὶ, καὶ εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων. Ἀμήν.
