of the face of the Father, that is, he will prepare and make ready the souls of men for the kingdom of the Father; when, out of rational and living stones, he has built the spiritual temple, that is, the church, the Lord and God the Word himself will come together with the angel of the covenant into the aforementioned temple; then, as if announcing his second coming, the Word says to the sinners, behold, the Lord almighty comes; and who will endure the day of his entry? or who will stand in his sight? and so on; to which one must pay close attention as they are spoken by the almighty Lord himself as if concerning another; and one must ask those of the circumcision if they have anything to say about the lord indicated here and the angel of the covenant with him, about whom the almighty Lord declares, "behold, he comes," and the rest; through which, according to us, the second coming of Christ is announced; who, being the Word of God, having arrived, will enter into the soul of each one, judging each concerning the things done by him in his life, both washing and melting like gold through fire, and purifying the ruling faculties of all. For the Father has given all judgment to the Son according to the word that says also in the Psalms, "O God, give your judgment to the king, and your righteousness to the king's son; to judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with judgment;" where the divinity and God the Word himself is proclaimed king; and the man whom he assumed, the son of the king. Of the same angel. 32. And the sun of righteousness will rise for those who fear my name, and healing in his wings. The sun of righteousness is the true light which enlightens every man coming into the world; who is said to rise only for those who fear the name of his Father; for to those who are not such, he threatens to set, according to that which is said in one of the prophets, "and the sun will set upon the prophets who lead my people astray." These things are from the twelve prophets; but since we intend to include the things from Isaiah in a separate work on account of their volume, come, let us move on and examine the things from the remaining great prophets. Ps. From Jeremiah. 33. O Lord, make it known to me, and I shall know; then I saw their deeds. I, like a harmless lamb being led to be sacrificed, did not know; they plotted against me, saying, "Come and let us put wood into his bread, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, and may his name be remembered no more." Our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, according to the prophecy in Isaiah, was led as a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, and according to the one at hand, "as 135 a harmless lamb being led to be sacrificed, I did not know;" and his passion on the cross can be indicated by, "come and let us put wood into his bread and let us cut him off from the land of the living; and may his name be remembered no more;" which things have been spoken from the person of those who plotted against him. For if his body was bread, as he himself teaches, saying to the disciples, "take, eat, this is my body," and this was what was displayed on the wood of the cross, it would reasonably be said of him, "come and let us put wood into his bread;" and if the matters of this passage should have a deeper interpretation, what has been said is not at all inconsistent with it. Ps. Of the same. 34. I have forsaken my house, I have left my inheritance, I have given my beloved soul into the hands of her enemies. My inheritance has become to me as a lion in the forest, she has lifted up her voice against me, therefore I have hated her. Is my inheritance to me a hyena's cave, or a cave round about it? Go, gather all the beasts of the field, and let them come to devour her. Many shepherds have destroyed my vineyard, they have defiled my portion, they have made a desirable portion into a pathless wilderness, it has become a desolation of destruction; for my sake with desolation
