To Josephus these 23 are the same as those listed by Manetho in the 17th, 18th, and 19th dynasties, spanning a period of 509 years. For he, beginning from the 3475th year of the world, ended in the 4067th year. But we, rather following Josephus in this on account of the agreement with Scripture, set out in order from the 3477th year of the world until the 4070th year, as is set down below. Of the Egyptians, the 26th to reign was Silites, for 19 years. First of the 6 of the 17th dynasty according to Manetho; and it was the 3477th year of the world.

KINGS OF THE THEBANS Of the Thebans, the 16th to reign was Saophis II, for 27 years. and it was the 3343rd year of the world. Of the Thebans, the 17th to reign was Moscheres Heliodotus, for 31 years. and it was the 3370th year of the world. 119 Of the Thebans, the 18th to reign was Mosthes, for 33 years. and it was the 3401st year of the world. Of the Thebans, the 19th to reign was Pammes Archondes, for 35 years. and it was the 3434th year of the world. Of the Thebans, the 20th to reign was Apappus the greatest. This man, as they say, reigned for 100 years less one hour. and it was the 3469th year of the world. Of the Thebans, the 21st to reign was Echeskosokaras, for 1 year. and it was the 3569th year of the world. Of the Thebans, the 22nd to reign was Nitocris, a woman in place of her husband, which is Athena the victorious, for 6 years. and it was the 3570th year of the world. Of the Thebans, the 23rd to reign was Myrtaeus Ammonodotus, for 22 years. and it was the 3576th year of the world.

KINGS OF THE SICYONIANS Of the Sicyonians, the 6th to reign was Aegydrus, for 34 years. and it was

the 3442nd year of the world. Of the Sicyonians, the 7th to reign was Thurimachus, for 45 years. and it was the 3476th year of the world. Of the Sicyonians, the 8th to reign was Leucippus, for 53 years. and it was the 3521st year of the world. Of the Sicyonians, the 9th to reign was Messapus, for 47 years. and it was the 3574th year of the world. Of the Sicyonians, the 10th to reign was Erastus, for 46 years. and it was the 3621st year of the world. Some say that the autochthon Cretas was the first to reign in Crete during this time which we have related above, according to others, in the time of Ninyas, noting both that he is one of the so-called Curetes and that Zeus was hidden and raised with him and that the island Crete was first named after him.

120 YEARS OF THE WORLD Generation 23. Jacob was 82 years old. and it was the 3473rd year of the world.

Rebekah, having made cakes, as Josephus says, gave them to Jacob and brought him in with other gifts through Isaac to Abraham, and Abraham blessed him and, blessing him in many ways and holding him in his bosom, he died, Abraham having fallen asleep in the 15th year of Jacob's life. In the 45th year of Jacob, Esau, being himself 45 years old (and it was the 3512th year of the world), took two wives, Judith, the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath, the daughter of Elon the Hivite, as the Scripture says; and they were a source of contention to Isaac and to Rebekah. And Isaac was 100 years old, so that even after the 100th year Jacob stole the blessings of Esau by his mother's suggestions; but he had received them beforehand from the patriarch Abraham, as Josephus confirms, and the account is trustworthy. Josephus says that Jacob, being 63 years old, had not known a woman at all, as he himself told his mother Rebekah. Africanus says that Jacob was 77 years old when he came to Mesopotamia, as from the Scripture. But the Scripture nowhere appears to say this, and besides, if we grant this, Joseph will have been born in the 76th year of Jacob, which is impossible. In the 73rd year of Jacob, and the 3545th of the world, according to the accurate account of his own life, Jacob fled, and having served 7 years he took Leah and begot Reuben in the 80th year and Simeon in the 81st, and Levi in the 82nd, Judah in the 83rd, Dan in the 85th, Naphtali in the 86th, Gad in the 87th, Asher in the 88th, Issachar in the 89th, Zebulun and Dinah from Leah in the 7th, Joseph from Rachel in the 71st. and he remained with Laban another two years, in the 73rd year he fled
