The book of Genesis concludes in time, that is, in the 110th year of Joseph's life, it has calculated 361 years; therefore, according to Eusebius, from Adam until the death of Joseph are 3545 years. But he is in error by 127 years compared to 3672. Up to this 3672nd year from the first-formed Adam, Moses the God-seer narrates in the first divinely-inspired book of Genesis. But it would be well, having set out in summary the same 3672 worldly years from Adam until the death of Joseph from the same holy book according to the edition of the 70 wise men, thus to proceed to the accurate chronology of the succeeding events as far as possible. For the same 3672nd year from Adam coincides with the 110th year of the life of the chaste Joseph, in which he also died, after 80 years of rule in Egypt. For he began to rule it at the age of thirty, having lived 70 years after the descent of his father with his whole household to him in Egypt and their sojourn there with the whole family, which happened after 10 years of his rule according to the same divinely-inspired scripture, the 7 years of plenty having passed, and Israel having come down into Egypt in the third year of the famine, at which time Jacob himself was 130 years old, as he said to Pharaoh when asked by him, and Joseph was 40 years old, if indeed he was entrusted with the rule of Egypt at the age of thirty, and in the tenth year after it he received his father and his brothers, so that from this another necessary question is demonstrated to us; that Joseph was born to him by Rachel in the 91st year of Jacob, the first after one daughter, Dinah, and 10 male children. Having counted him from Benjamin who was still in Rachel's womb, being the 10th among the males, he dedicated him to God and appointed him high priest, as Josephus says, according to the reverse calculation, tithing along with him all his possessions and dedicating them to God, just as he had prayed when going to Mesopotamia, that "and of all that you give me I will give a full tenth to you." Simeon, the 2nd son of Leah, was born in the 81st year of Jacob; Reuben, Jacob's firstborn son and Leah's, was born in the 80th year of Jacob.
