We, the multitudes of monks, honor you as our guide, our Father Maximus; for through you we have come to know how to walk the truly straight path. Blessed are you, for you served Christ, and triumphed over the power of the enemy, converser with angels, partaker with the holy and the righteous, with whom intercede to the Lord that our souls may be saved.

Holy Father, the sound of your achievements has gone out into all the earth; through

in the heavens you have found the reward of your labors; you have routed the phalanxes of demons; you have reached the orders of angels, whose life you blamelessly emulated. Having boldness in your memory, ask for peace for our souls.

tongue, O divine Maximus, the grace of the Spirit. You were seen as a burning fire against the heresies, O blessed one; for like stubble them

you consumed with the zeal of the Spirit. An irrational [dogma] was put forth from a most impious intention, the monothelite dogma; but by

your words, O Father, it was refuted. Theotokion. O immaculate Theotokos, who the incarnate, eternal, and super-divine Word beyond nature

did bear, we hymn you. Ode 3. The Heirmos. You are the firmament of those who turn to you, O Lord; you are the light

of those in darkness, and my spirit hymns you. The greatest Maximus of the pious faith of Christ was a most true herald and

a martyr, revealed through blood. O blessed Maximus, you through asceticism became a divinely-fitting [dwelling] of philosophy and

a temperate habitation. Your tongue gushed forth like a river the all-pious dogmas of Christ, O Maximus

O all-blessed one, nursling of wisdom. Theotokion. We all have you as a refuge and our wall, we Christians. We glorify you
