in the time of Saul, David and Samuel, and in the time of David, David himself, Gad, Nathan, Asaph, in the time of Solomon and those after him, Ahijah the Shilonite, Shemaiah, Iddo. and in the time of 1.186 Jehoshaphat and those after him, Micaiah, Elijah, Elisha, Obadiah. and in the time of Jehu, Oziel, Eleazar, Azarias. and in the time of Hezekiah and those after him, Hosea, Amos, Isaiah, Jonah. and in the time of Josiah and those after him, Jeremiah, Zephaniah, Huldah, Baruch. in the time of Zedekiah, Jeremiah, Habakkuk. and after the captivity, in the time of Jeshua, Haggai and Zechariah. Daniel and Ezekiel prophesied in Babylon during the captivity. Jehoshaphat, having been anointed by Elisha as king over Samaria, took vengeance on the entire house of Ahab. For he shot king Joram with an arrow and killed him, and he deals with his mother Jezebel by throwing her down. And having dealt with the sons of Ahab, he set forth their heads at the entrances. Then, gathering all the prophets and priests of Baal, pretending to perform a public sacrifice, he slaughters them all at once, and he tears down the idol-temple and makes it a place of refuse. And he reigned for 28 years. Joash the son of Ahaziah reigns after him for 16 years. This one killed Athaliah. In his time, Jehoiada was priest, having lived 130 years. It should be noted that this one alone appears to have lived this long after Moses. In the #22δχμηʹ year of the world, the prophet Elisha dies, and they bury him. Not long after, raiding bands of Moab came 1.187 into the land, and they buried a man in the tomb of Elisha. Therefore, when he drew near to the bones of the prophet, he came back to life and stood on his feet. Jeroboam the son of Joash reigned 41 years; in his time Jonah and Amos prophesied. Zechariah his son, for six months. Shallum, having killed Zechariah, reigned for ten months. Menahem, rising up against Shallum, reigned for ten years. When those in Tirzah did not receive him, he overpowered and killed them, and ripped open the pregnant women. Pekahiah, the son of Menahem, succeeding his father, reigned for two years. Pekah the son of Remaliah, having killed Pekahiah, reigned for 8 years; in his time, Tiglath-Pileser the king of the Assyrians, campaigning against Judea, appropriates most of their land. Hoshea after Pekah, the son of Elah, reigns for 9 years. In his time Shalmaneser king of the Assyrians, coming against Samaria, takes both him and all Israel captive with him, and settles them in Halah and Habor, cities of the Medes, and on the river Gozan, where, being mistreated, they pay the penalty for their transgression against God. And the Assyrian, having sent Babylonians who had lived shamefully and lawlessly to Samaria, ordered them to live there. God sent forth lions and destroyed them. But the barbarian, having learned and understood what was necessary, judged that on that land the worship of God according to the law should be cared for, and sending one of the priests, Ezra, he ordered him to perform the customary rites there. And he, staying in Bethel, instructed them in the law, 1.188 and taught them to worship God. And so from that time it came to pass that the land was at peace from the lions. These people they still call Samaritans, from the country; for which reason also their customs are strange, and on account of the teaching of the law they have a slight semblance of godliness; for they were not deemed worthy to receive more than the decalogue. Here the times of the Israelite kingdom ended, amounting to three hundred and three years and seven months, beginning from Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and ending with Hoshea the son of Elah and the relocation of Israel by Shalmaneser from Samaria to Media. And the aforementioned kingdom of the descendants of David also flourished, having its beginning from the tenth year of the monarchy of Saul, and ending at Rehoboam the son of Solomon. Abijah, succeeding to his father's rule, reigns for three years in Jerusalem. Asa, for 41 years; this one, being already old, suffered pain in his feet from an arthritic affliction. Μαναεὶμ τῷ Σελοὺμ ἐπαναστὰς ἐβασίλευσεν ἔτη δέκα. οὗτος μὴ δεξαμένων αὐτὸν τῶν ἐν Θερσᾷ χειρωσάμενος ἀναιρεῖ, καὶ τὰς ἐν γαστρὶ ἐχούσας διαρρήσσει. Φαλκίας τοῦ Μαναεὶμ υἱὸς τὸν πατέρα διαδεξάμενος ἐβασίλευσεν ἔτη δύο. Φακεὲ ὁ τοῦ Ῥωμελίου τὸν Φαλκίαν ἀνελὼν ἐβασίλευσεν ἔτη ηʹ· ἐπὶ τούτου Θεγλαφαλασσὰρ ὁ Ἀσσυρίων βασιλεὺς εἰς τὴν Ἰουδαίαν ἐπιστρατεύσας τὰ πλεῖστα τῆς γῆς αὐτῶν σφετερίζεται. Ὠσηὲ μετὰ τὸν Φακεέ, ὁ τοῦ Ἰλᾶ, βασιλεύει ἔτη θʹ. ἐπὶ τούτου Σαλμανασσὰρ βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων ἐπιστὰς τῇ Σαμαρείᾳ αὐτόν τε ἄγει αἰχμάλωτον καὶ πάντα τὸν Ἰσραὴλ σὺν αὐτῷ, καὶ κατοικίζει αὐτοὺς ἐν Ἀλαὲρ καὶ Ἀβώρ, Μηδικαῖς πόλεσι, καὶ ἐπὶ ποταμῷ Γοζᾶν, ἔνθα τῆς εἰς θεὸν παραβάσεως δίκας ἐκτιννύουσι κακουχούμενοι. ὁ δὲ Ἀσσύριος Βαβυλωνίους ἐν Σαμαρείᾳ πέμψας αἰσχρῶς καὶ ἀνόμως βεβιωκό τας, οἰκεῖν αὐτόθι ἐκέλευσε. τούτους ὁ θεὸς λέοντας ἐξαποστέλ λων διέφθειρε. πυθόμενος δὲ ὁ βάρβαρος καὶ συνιεὶς δέον ἔκρι νεν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἐκείνης τῆς κατὰ νόμον θεῷ λατρείας ἐπιμελεῖσθαι, καὶ ἕνα τῶν ἱερέων ἐξαποστείλας τὸν Ἔσδραν τὰ νομιζόμενα αὐ τόθι ποιεῖν ἐκέλευσεν. ὁ δὲ καταμένων ἐν Βεθὴλ τὸν νόμον αὐ 1.188 τοὺς ἐξεπαίδευσε, καὶ τὸν θεὸν σέβεσθαι αὐτοὺς ἐδίδασκε. καὶ οὕτως ἐξ ἐκείνου συμβαίνει ἐκ τῶν λεόντων τὴν γῆν ἠρεμῆσαι. τούτους εἰσέτι Σαμαρείτας ἀπὸ τῆς χώρας προσαγορεύουσι· διὸ καὶ ἀλλόκοτοι τὰς προαιρέσεις, διὰ δὲ τὴν τοῦ νόμου διδασκαλίαν βραχεῖαν ἔχουσι θεοσεβείας ἔμφασιν· οὐδὲ γὰρ τῆς δεκαλόγου πλεῖον παραλαβεῖν ἠξιώθησαν. Ἐνταῦθα τῆς Ἰσραηλιτικῆς βασιλείας οἱ χρόνοι κατέληξαν εἰς ἔτη τριακόσια τρία καὶ μῆνας ἑπτά, ἀρξάμενοι μὲν ἀπὸ Ἰερο βοὰμ τοῦ Ναβάτ, καταλήξαντες δὲ εἰς Ὠσηὲ τὸν τοῦ Ἰλᾶ καὶ τὴν ὑπὸ Σαλμανασσὰρ τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ μετοικεσίαν ἀπὸ Σαμαρείας εἰς Μήδους. ἤκμαζε δὲ καὶ ἡ προκειμένη τῶν ἐκ ∆αβὶδ βασιλεία, τὴν μὲν ἀρχὴν ἀπὸ τοῦ δεκάτου τῆς τοῦ Σαοὺλ ἔχουσα μοναρχίας, καταλήξασα δὲ ἐπὶ τὸν Ῥοβοὰμ τὸν τοῦ Σολομῶντος. Ἀβία διαδεξάμενος τὴν τοῦ πατρὸς ἀρχὴν βασιλεύει ἔτη τρία ἐν Ἱερουσα λήμ. Ἀσᾶ ἔτη μαʹ· οὗτος ἤδη γηραιὸς ὢν ἀρθριτικῷ τοὺς πόδας ἤλγησε πάθει. Ἰωσάφατ μετὰ τοῦτον ἔτη κεʹ· ἐπὶ τούτου
