RESPONSE Nothing done according to the commandment ought to be cut off on account of those who come in for the sake of a friendly duty; unless some particular care of the soul should surpass bodily diligence according to the Lord's commandment, as the holy apostles said in the Acts: It is not pleasing for us to leave the word of God to serve tables.

ΑΠΟΚΡΙΣΙΣ Οὐδὲν τῶν κατ' ἐντολὴν γινομένων ἐκκόπτε-σθαι χρὴ διὰ τοὺς ἐπεισερχομένους ἕνεκεν φιλικοῦ καθήκοντος· εἰ μή τις ἂν ἰδιάζουσα ψυχῆς ἐπιμέλεια τὴν σωματικὴν σπουδὴν κατ' ἐντολὴν τοῦ Κυρίου παρευδοκιμῇ, τῶν ἁγίων ἀποστόλων ἐν ταῖς Πράξεσιν εἰπόντων· Οὐκ ἀρεστὸν, καταλιπόντας ἡμᾶς τὸν λόγον τοῦ Θεοῦ, διακονεῖν τραπέζαις.
