Every muddy spring of heresy is dried up, O famous Maximus, being blocked by the sweetness of your tongue.
Be merciful to me, O only good one, and cause a spring of grace, O Christ, to gush forth in my heart through the prayers of your holy one.
Theot. O you who alone through a word bore the Word in the flesh, deliver, we pray, from the snares
of the enemy our souls. Ode 7. Those from Judea. One nature of the Trinity, one will he said, one (220) energy; but of God
incarnate, two natures, wills, energies you proclaimed; the God of our fathers, blessed are you.
You proclaimed not two wills divided by opposition of mind, but rather, O Father, differing in natural quality; The God of our fathers, blessed are you.
Holding your glorious words as a pillar of orthodoxy, O Father, we worship the one of the Trinity in two substances and wills; The God of our fathers, blessed are you.
Knowing, O Father, two energies of the God who out of pity became incarnate, and having been taught by you of two self-determining wills, we sing: The God of our fathers, blessed are you.
Theot. Having been made flesh from a virgin's womb, you appeared for our salvation; wherefore, your
mother, knowing her as the Theotokos, we thankfully cry out: The God of our fathers, blessed are you.
Ode 8. The Heirmos. Victors over the tyrant and the flame, by your grace exceedingly
the enduring youths, cried out: "Bless the Lord, all you works, and supremely exalt him unto all the ages."
Having wholly desired him who exceedingly desired the race of men, you took up your cross,
and with him, O blessed one, you were crucified. Bless the Lord, all you works. Having been estranged from all death-bearing pleasure, O blessed one, you made yourself wholly
a spotless divine mirror; singing, "Bless, O works, the Lord." You were not terrified by the cruelty of a harsh, impious tyrant; but you stood as a tower
unbending and unshaken of orthodoxy; singing, "Bless, O works, the Lord." Having received a life-bearing radiance from the one, three-hypostasized Godhead, you appeared to those in
darkness as a sun, and to the wandering; singing, "Bless, O works, the Lord." Theot. Of Adam who had fallen, O Virgin, you appeared on the one hand as daughter, but on the other, as mother of God,
who renewed my substance, whom we, all the works, hymn as Lord. Ode 9. The Heirmos. The one prefigured on the mountain to the lawgiver in fire and bush,
the offspring of the Ever-Virgin, for the salvation of us the faithful, with unceasing hymns we magnify.
