a holy people of God will be called" from the tribe, on account of the Lord Christ who according to the flesh was revealed from it, having named Judah a holy people of God. Again the same prophet: "I will rescue them from the hand of Hades, I will redeem them from death. Where is your penalty, O death? Where is your sting, O Hades?" The apostle Paul used this saying concerning the resurrection. Paragraph 5.144 This one also clearly foretold the three-day resurrection of the Lord, saying: "On the third day we shall rise and we shall know"; likewise also he foretold the destruction of death and the penalty of the sting of Hades. How ought one not to be amazed at the ineffable love for humanity of God, who always provides for the human race? Glory to His indescribable gift. 5.145 20This second one,20 Amos, himself also having been deemed worthy to speak about the coming of the 20Lord Christ, thus:20 "For behold, I am He who makes thunder firm and creates spirit and declares to men His Christ." He says further: "In that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David that has fallen and rebuild its ruins and rebuild it as in the days of old, so that the remnant of men may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name has been called, says the Lord who does these things." James the apostle recalls this saying in the Acts of the Apostles. Taking this saying, the chief priests and scribes of the Jews, when Herod asked them where the Christ was to be born, said: "In Bethlehem of Judea"; whence he then sent the magi to Bethlehem. Further says the 20same prophet:20 "He will turn again and have compassion on us and will submerge our sins and will cast all our iniquities into the depths of the sea; he will give truth to Jacob, mercy to Abraham, as he swore to our fathers in the days of old." Paragraph 5.147 And this one in agreement foretells the one from Bethlehem and Judah arising from eternity as a ruler for Israel, through whom the reconciliation of the world comes, cleansing our sins and leading us to a better end. Glory to God who always wisely administers and foretells the things concerning man. 5.148 This is Joel the fourth, himself also having been deemed worthy to foretell about the mystery concerning the Lord Christ, for he says thus: "And it shall be after these things, I will pour out of my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your elders will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions; and indeed upon my male servants and upon my female servants in those days I will pour out of my Spirit; and I will give wonders in heaven and on earth, blood and fire and a mist of smoke; the sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and glorious one; and it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." The blessed Peter recalls this saying being fulfilled in the Acts of the Apostles, when the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles happened on the day of Pentecost. Paragraph 5.149 And this one the miracles, prophecies, dreams, and visions that happened through the Holy Spirit at the time of the Lord Christ, at the same time also foretells the day of the great and terrible and glorious coming of the Lord Christ, as happened in various ways in the case of Joseph
