When we have put off the passions, then we will receive perfect knowledge. Do not imitate Adam, who dared to eat the forbidden fruit; do not touch the hidden things, but leave the knowledge of them for the proper time. Be persuaded by the wise one who says: “Do not say: What is this? For what is this? For all things were made for a purpose.” Therefore, gathering from every side the sources for hymns, and blending them into one hymnody, offer them with us to the Creator, and Giver of good things, and Savior Christ, our true God. To him be glory, and worship, and majesty unto the endless ages of ages. Amen.
