Οἱ μανδάτορες τῶν σεκρέτων πάντων, ἤγουν οἱ τοῦ σακελλαρίου· οἱ τοῦ γενικοῦ· οἱ τοῦ στρατιωτικοῦ· οἱ τοῦ λογοθέτου τοῦ δρόμου·
οἱ τοῦ σακελλίου· οἱ τοῦ βεστιαρίου· οἱ τοῦ εἰδικοῦ· οἱ τοῦ νουμέρου· οἱ τοῦ τειχεώτου· οἱ διατρέχοντες· οἱ σύντροφοι τῶν
δύο στάβλων. ἰστέον, ὅτι οὐ δεῖ στρατεύεσθαι ἀπὸ ἄλλου θέματος εἰς τοὺς ἐλάτας 699 τῶν ἀγραρίων εἰ μὴ ἀπὸ τοῦ στενοῦ. ἰστέον,
ὅτι οὐ δεῖ στρατεύεσθαι εἰς τοὺς διαιταρίους τοῦ μεγάλου παλατίου καὶ τῶν λοιπῶν παλατίων, εἰ μὴ ἀπὸ τῆς πόλεως καὶ τοῦ στενοῦ.
ἰστέον, ὅτι οὐ δεῖ στρατεύεσθαι εἰς τοὺς μανδάτορας τῶν ὀφφικίων, εἰ μὴ ἀπὸ τῆς πόλεως. ΚΕΦ. ναʹ. Ὅσα δεῖ παραφυλάττειν, ὅταν
ἐν ὀχήματι βούλεται προελθεῖν ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ ἰδεῖν τὰ ὀῤῥία τοῦ στρατηγίου. Ἀπὸ ὀψὲ δίδοται μανδάτα πρόκενσον εἰς τὰ ὀῤῥία.
προέρχονται οὖν τῇ ἑξῆς πάντες, καὶ εἰσέρχονται ἀπὸ λευκῶν χλανιδίων καὶ ταγγίων εἰς τὸ παλάτιον, καὶ ὅταν γένηται τρανσφερ,
οἱ μὲν κανδιδάτοι ἵστανται πρὸ τοῦ ἱπποδρόμου μετὰ τὴν θύραν τῶν χρειῶν τῆς βαλνιαρίας, εἰσέρχονται δὲ ἔσω ἐν τῷ ἱπποδρόμῳ
οἱ δεσποτικοὶ ἵπποι μόνοι, οἱ δὲ τῶν ἀρχόντων ἔξω ἵστανται. ἔρχεται δὲ καὶ ἡ καρούχα ἡ δεσποτικὴ, καὶ ἵσταται πρὸ τοῦ ἱπποδρόμου.
καὶ ὅταν ἴδῃ ὁ σιλεντιάριος, ὅτι πάντα ἕτοιμά εἰσι, καὶ λάβῃ τὸ παρατυς, εἰσέρχονται κατὰ τὸ ἔθος οἱ πατρίκιοι. εἶτα ἐξέρχεται
ὁ βασιλεὺς, καὶ ἵσταται ἐν τῷ μέσῳ τοῦ μεγάλου τρικλίνου, καὶ πάντα γίνεται ὡς ἐν κονσιστωρίῳ, καὶ ἐξέρχεται δηριγευόμενος
διὰ τῆς βαλνιαρίας, καὶ ὅταν ἔλθῃ ὅπου 700 οἱ κανδιδάτοι τὰ ὅπλα κρατοῦσιν, ἐκεῖ οἱ τριβοῦνοι τοῦ πραισέντου προσκυνοῦσιν
αὐτὸν, καὶ σὺν αὐτοῖς ὁ πριμικήριος τῶν δομεστίκων. εἶτα ἐκεῖθεν εἰσέρχεται εἰς τὸν
