TITLE 6. -Concerning training, and practice, and exercise.
From care and mindfulness peace will appear to you. Child, in your life test your soul. Train yourself for godliness. For bodily training is of some value, but godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. Labors practiced from long habit befall those who are well-trained with less pain. - Let us imitate those who practice their military drills, who, having gained experience in gestures and formations, enjoy the benefit of their training in battles. 95.1312 Virtue unpracticed in deeds is quickly destroyed by circumstances. From much practice and exercise the violence and wildness of the passions weaken. Continuous exercise produces firm knowledge, as lack of practice produces ignorance; and again, engagement with it increases experience. -Practice is the nurse of knowledge.
TITLE 7. -Concerning those who acknowledge their faults.
I have acknowledged my iniquity, and my sin I have not concealed. I will declare my iniquity, and I will be anxious for my sin. The just man is his own accuser in his first speech. Before judgment examine yourself, and in the time of visitation you will find mercy. Be not ashamed to confess your sins.
TITLE 8. -Concerning women; that they ought to be subject to their own husbands,
and do nothing without them. God said to the woman: Your desire shall be for your husband, and he
shall rule over you. If a woman becomes a wife to a man, and her vows are upon her, according to the utterance of her lips, as many as she has bound upon her soul, and her husband hears it, and is silent to her on the day he hears, then all her vows shall stand, and her obligations with which she has bound her soul shall stand. But if her husband disallows her on the day he hears, all her vows, and her obligations with which she has bound her soul, shall not stand, because her husband disallowed; and the Lord will clear her. A woman honoring her own husband will appear wise to all. Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord; for the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the Church; and he is the head of the body. But as the Church is subject to Christ, so also let the wives be to their husbands in everything. Let each one love his own wife as himself; and the wife, that she fear her husband. Wives, being subject to your own husbands, so that if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives; when they see your conduct in fear. Whose adorning let it not be the outward plaiting of hair and wearing of gold, or putting on of apparel, but the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God adorned themselves, being subject to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, 95.1313 calling him lord, whose children you are, doing good, and not being afraid with any amazement.
TITLE 9. -Concerning women; that they ought not to pray unveiled, or
to speak, or to teach in the church of God . Judge in yourselves: is it fitting for a woman uncovered to God
to pray? does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor

ϛʹ.
