“Have you not poured me out like milk, and curdled me like cheese? You have clothed me with skin and flesh, and woven me together with bones and sinews. You have granted me life and mercy, and your visitation has preserved my spirit. Having these things in myself, I know that you can do all things, and that nothing is impossible for you.” And the God-loving David also says to God: “Your hands have made me and fashioned me.” And again: “You know our frame.” And next: “You have formed me and laid your hand upon me; Your knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is mighty, I cannot attain to it; Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in your book all shall be written.” But also Isaiah says, praying to him, that “We are the clay, and you our potter.” If, therefore, man is His creation, having come into being through Christ, it is entirely certain that even after dying he will be raised through Him, either to be crowned for his right actions or to be punished for his sins. But if He judges with righteousness as a lawgiver, just as He punishes the impious, so by His beneficence He saves the faithful and the saints slaughtered by men for His sake, making some bright as stars, and others brilliant as luminaries, as Gabriel said to Daniel. Since, therefore, all the faithful are disciples of Christ, let us believe His promises; for He who has promised is true. And the blessed prophet David also says that “The Lord is faithful in all His words, and holy in all His works.” For He who fashioned a body for Himself from a virgin, He is also the creator of other men, and He who raised Himself from the dead, He will also raise all who lie dead. He who raises a great ear of wheat from the earth from a single grain, He who makes the felled tree to sprout again into an adamant shoot, He who made Aaron’s rod, though dry, to bring forth a shoot, He will also raise us in glory. He who raised the paralytic whole, and healed the one who had a withered hand, and restored the missing part to the one maimed from birth with earth and spittle, the same will also raise us. He who satisfied five thousand with five loaves and two fish and had twelve baskets left over, and who changed water into wine, and who sent a stater from the mouth of a fish through me, Peter, to those who demanded the tribute, the same will also raise the dead. For we testify to all these things concerning Him, while the prophets testify to the others. We who ate with Him and drank with Him, and

Eἰ δὲ δικαιοσύνῃ κρίνει ὡς νομο θέτης, ὥσπερ κολάζει τοὺς ἀσεβεῖς, οὕτως εὐεργετῶν σóζει τοὺς πιστοὺς καὶ τοὺς δι' αὐτὸν ὑπ' ἀνθρώπων σφαγέντας ἁγίους, τοὺς μὲν ὡς ἄστρα φαιδρύνων, τοὺς δὲ ὡς φωστῆρας λαμπρύνων, καθὼς ὁ Γαβριὴλ τῷ ∆ανιὴλ ἔλεγεν. Μαθη ταὶ οὖν Χριστοῦ πάντες ὑπάρχοντες οἱ πιστοί, πιστεύωμεν αὐτοῦ ταῖς ἐπαγγελίαις· ἀψευδὴς γὰρ ὁ ἐπαγγειλάμενος. Λέγει δὲ καὶ ὁ μακάριος προφήτης ∆αυὶδ ὅτι «Πιστὸς Κύριος ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς λόγοις αὐτοῦ καὶ ὅσιος ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς ἔργοις αὐτοῦ.» Ὁ γὰρ ἐκ παρθένου ἑαυτῷ κατασκευάσας σῶμα, οὗτος καὶ τῶν ἄλλων ἀνθρώπων δημιουργός ἐστιν, καὶ ὁ ἑαυτὸν ἀναστήσας ἐκ τῶν νεκρῶν, αὐτὸς καὶ πάντας τοὺς κειμένους ἀναστήσει. Ὁ τὸν πυρὸν ἐξ ἑνὸς κόκκου πολύχουν ἐκ γῆς ἀνιστῶν, ὁ τὸ ἐκκοπὲν δένδρον εἰς ·άδαμνον ἀναθάλλων, ὁ τὴν Ἀαρὼν ῥάβδον ξηρὰν οὖσαν ἐκφύσας εἰς βλαστόν, αὐτὸς καὶ ἡμᾶς ἐγερεῖ ἐν δόξῃ. Ὁ τὸν παρα λυτικὸν σῶον ἀνεγείρας καὶ τὸν ἐξηραμμένην ἔχοντα τὴν χεῖρα ἰασάμενος καὶ τὸ λεῖπον μέρος ἐν τῷ ἐκ γενετῆς πηρῷ ἐκ γῆς καὶ σιέλου ἀποδούς, ὁ αὐτὸς καὶ ἡμᾶς ἀνεγερεῖ. Ὁ ἐκ πέντε ἄρτων καὶ δύο ἰχθύων πεντακισχιλίους κορέσας καὶ περισσεύσας δώδεκα κοφίνους, καὶ ἐξ ὕδατος οἶνον μεταποιήσας καὶ ἐκ στόματος ἰχθύος στατῆρα δι' ἐμοῦ Πέτρου τοῖς ἀπαιτοῦσι κῆνσον ἀποστείλας, ὁ αὐτὸς καὶ τοὺς νεκροὺς ἀνεγερεῖ.
