Silence Father Truth. And this is the tetrad from the Father and Truth: Man Church Word Life. Then by the will of the all-containing Depth, Man and Church, mindful of paternal words, came together with each other and bring forth a dodecad of pre-existing male-females. The males therefore are: Paraclete, Paternal, Maternal, Ever-Mindful, Willed, which is Light, Ecclesiastical, and the females: Faith, Hope, Love, Intelligence, Blessedness, Wisdom. And afterwards Word and Life, they too having refashioned the gift of union, had communion with each other; and their communion was the will, and having come together they brought forth a decad of pre-existing ones, also male-females. The males are: Bythios, Ageless, Self-begotten, Only-begotten, Unmoved; these acquired the name for the glory of the all-containing one, and the females: Mixture, Union, Blending, Oneness, Pleasure, and these acquired the name for the glory of Silence. 6. The Triacontad of Father Truth being thus perfected, which the earthly, not understanding it, count, and whenever they come to it, no longer finding a number, they go around in a circle, counting it again—and it is Depth, Silence, Father, Truth, Man, Church, Word, Life, Paraclete, Paternal, Maternal, Ever-Mindful, Willed, Ecclesiastical, Faith, Hope, Love, 1.393 Intelligence, Blessedness, Wisdom, Bythios, Ageless, Self-begotten, Only-begotten, Unmoved, Mixture, Union, Blending, Oneness, Pleasure—, then the all-containing one with unsurpassable intelligence decreed that another Ogdoad be called in place of the pre-existing authentic Ogdoad, which remains in the number of the Triacontad; for it was not the thought of Greatness to fall into number, he set up males in place of the males: Only, Third, Fifth, Seventh and the females: Dyad, Tetrad, Hexad, Ogdoad. This therefore is the Ogdoad, which was called in place of the pre-existing Ogdoad of Depth, Father, Man, Word, and of Silence, Truth, Church, Life, it was united with the lights and became a perfected Triacontad. And the pre-existing Ogdoad was at rest. But the Depth came forth by the support of Greatness to be united with the Triacontad; for he came together with Truth, and the Father of Truth came together with the Church, and the Maternal had Life, and the Paraclete the Henad, and the Henad was united with the Father of Truth, and the Father of Truth was with Silence, and the spiritual Word had communion * in a spiritual mixture 1.394 and incorruptible blending, the Self-Father making his own rest the indivisible end. The Triacontad therefore, completing the deep mysteries, perfecting a marriage in incorruptible things, brought forth incorruptible lights, which were named children of the Middle and were without characteristic, the intellectual not being present, resting outside of thought, without Conception. For about whatever one does, if he does not understand it universally, he does not do it. Then, when the lights had come into being, of which it is not necessary to declare the multitude by number, but to consider, for each has been allotted its own name for the full knowledge of ineffable mysteries, Silence, therefore, wishing for the election of knowledge to save all things, brought together the second opposing Ogdoad in an incorruptible mixture, and by an intellectual will; and her intellectual will was the Holy Spirit, which is in the midst of the holy churches. Having sent this, therefore, into the second Ogdoad, she persuaded it also to be united with her. 1.395 A marriage, therefore, was perfected in the parts of the Ogdoad, the Holy Spirit being united with the Only, and the Dyad with the Third, and the Third with the Hexad, and the Ogdoad with the Seventh, and the Seventh with the Dyad, and the Hexad with the Fifth. And the whole Ogdoad came together with ageless pleasure and incorruptible mixture; for there was no separation from one another; but there was a blending with blameless pleasure, and it brought forth a pentad of pre-existing ones without female, whose names are these: Karpistes, Horothetes, Charisterios, Aphetos
