He fully convinced me, showing me the prints of the nails and the wound of the spear in His side. And again, counting forty days from the first Lord's day, from Sunday until Thursday, you shall celebrate the feast of the Lord's Ascension, on which, having fulfilled all the economy and ordinance, He ascended to the God and Father who sent Him, sitting at the right hand of power and waiting, until His enemies are put under His feet. Who also will come at the consummation of the age with power and great glory, to judge the living and the dead and to give to each according to his works; and then they will see the beloved Son of God, whom they pierced, and recognizing Him, they will mourn for themselves, tribe by tribe, and their women by themselves. For even now on the tenth of the month Gorpiaeus, they gather and read the Lamentations of Jeremiah, in which it is said: “The breath before our face, Christ the Lord, was taken in their corruptions,” and Baruch, in which it is written: “This is our God, no other shall be accounted of in comparison to Him; He has found out every way of knowledge, and has shown it to Jacob His servant and to Israel His beloved; after this He was seen upon the earth and conversed with men.” And when they read, they beat their breasts and lament, as they themselves think, for the desolation caused by Nebuchadnezzar, but as the truth has it, they unwillingly make a prelude to the mourning that will overtake them. And after ten days from the Ascension, which becomes the fiftieth day from the first Lord's day, let there be a great feast for you; for at the third hour on that day, the Lord Jesus sent to us the gift of the Holy Spirit, and we were filled with His energy and spoke in new tongues, as He prompted in us, and we proclaimed to both Jews and Gentiles, that He is the Christ of God, the one appointed by Him as judge of the living and the dead. Of this one Moses testified, saying: "The Lord received fire from the Lord and rained it down." This one Jacob saw as a man and said: "I have seen God face to face, and my soul was saved." This one Abraham, having shown hospitality, confessed to be a judge and his own Lord. This one Moses saw at the bush; concerning this one he said in Deuteronomy: "A prophet will the Lord God raise up for you from your brothers, like me; you shall listen to him in all things, whatever he may say to you; and it shall be that every soul, whoever does not
