who from the beginning created the two states, and disciplined us in the first and through experience and learning and reason made us temperate, and leads the race of men in the second state, and through it all of creation. Glory to you, glory to you, glory to you, thrice-holy, creator and maker of all things and renewer of the universe, unto the ages of ages. Amen. 6.24 From all these things the dogma of the Christians is shown to be better than all, and consistent and fitting to the structure of the world, and to be truer, that from the beginning God not unseasonably, but usefully, divided the one place into two places, having prepared and pre-constructed this one for this state, and the other for the one that is to be, just as the true, and not counterfeit, Christians confess. 6.25 The Greeks, therefore, supposing the world to be eternal, and rejecting the resurrection of the bodies and their ascent into heaven, considering it foolishness, are fittingly deprived of the future honors and of the ascent into heaven according to their own hypothesis. The Jews, reading Moses and the prophets and not understanding the great and wise economy of God, which was declared through the prophets, that God from the beginning made two states for the benefit of men, neither accepted the founder of this second state, but he even became a stumbling-block to them, nor to this day do they believe that there will be an ascent of men into heaven, but they for their part expect the one who is to come, whom they call the Anointed, hoping that he will reign on earth and subject all nations to them; being wholly unwilling to think of heavenly things, rejecting the counsel of God and thinking that the dwelling-place in the heavens was constructed unseasonably, which Moses shows was not made unseasonably, saying that on the second day the firmament was in the middle and two places came to be, they themselves also fall away from this dwelling-place. 6.26 Likewise the Samaritans, being ignorant of and disbelieving the same things as the Jews, and moreover also doubting concerning the resurrection of bodies and concerning the immortality of the soul, they themselves likewise are cast out of the heavenly dwelling-place. The Manichaeans, thinking similar things to the Greeks, both themselves considering the heaven to be spherical and expecting the destruction of bodies, are condemned to be about the earth with their own evil god, whom they appointed for themselves, being driven away from the city above, which they rejected. 6.27 Likewise also every heresy, the one rejecting the perfect humanity of Christ, I mean a rational, intelligent soul and body, and not confessing, but doubting, all the properties of the soul and of the body, and the other rejecting and mutilating the divinity of Christ and saying he is less than the Father, or also that of the Holy Spirit, all these fail to attain the heavenly mansions. 6.28 Blessed therefore are they who through the divine Scriptures, of the Old and New Testament, know the creator of all things to be one God in three hypostases, I mean of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, a holy, consubstantial Trinity, of equal power and equal strength and equal glory and equal honor and co-eternal, and his great and wise and all-powerful economy, he who is the cause of all things, how wisely and fittingly he created the two states from the beginning, both this one and that one, and through the perfect humanity of the Lord, which is consubstantial with us in all things according to both soul and body, without sin, which lived among us in the last times, who showed and revealed the future state and gave faith to all by raising it from the dead. Therefore, as many as walk perfectly by this rule, peace be upon them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.These will rightly hear in the future state from the Lord Christ speaking from heaven: "Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world." Ἀμήν. 6.24 Ἐκ τούτων πάντων δείκνυται τὸ δόγμα τῶν χριστιανῶν κρεῖττον πάντων, καὶ ἀκόλουθον καὶ ἁρμόδιον τῇ κατασκευῇ τοῦ κόσμου, καὶ ἀληθινώτερον ὑπάρχον, ὅτι ἀπ' ἀρχῆς ὁ Θεὸς οὐκ ἀκαίρως, ἀλλὰ χρησίμως, εἰς δύο χώρους τὸν ἕνα χῶρον διεῖλεν, ἑτοιμάσας καὶ προκατασκευάσας τοῦτον μὲν εἰς ταύτην τὴν κατάστασιν, τὸν δὲ ἄλλον εἰς τὴν μέλλουσαν ἔσεσθαι, καθάπερ οἱ ἀληθινοί, καὶ οὐκ ἐπίπλαστοι, χριστιανοὶ ὁμολογοῦσιν. 6.25 Ἕλληνες τοίνυν ἀΐδιον τὸν κόσμον ὑποτιθέμενοι, καὶ τὴν ἀνάστασιν τῶν σωμάτων καὶ τὴν εἰς οὐρανὸν αὐτῶν ἄνοδον ἀθετοῦντες, μωρίαν αὐτὸ ἡγούμενοι, τῶν μελλόντων τιμῶν καὶ τῆς ἀνόδου τῆς εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν ἁρμοδίως κατὰ τὴν αὐτῶν ὑποθήκην στερίσκονται. Ἰουδαῖοι, Μωϋσέα καὶ τοὺς προφήτας ἀναγινώσκοντες καὶ μὴ συνιέντες τὴν μεγάλην καὶ σοφὴν οἰκονομίαν τοῦ Θεοῦ, τὴν διὰ τῶν προφητῶν δηλοῦσαν, ὅτιπερ δύο καταστάσεις ἐξ ἀρχῆς πεποίηκεν ὁ Θεὸς ἐπὶ χρησίμῳ τοῖς ἀνθρώποις, οὔτε τὸν ἀρχηγὸν αὐτῆς τῆς δευτέρας καταστάσεως ἐδέξαντο, ἀλλὰ καὶ σκάνδαλον αὐτοῖς ἐγένετο, οὔτε ἕως τοῦ νῦν ἄνοδον ἐν οὐρανῷ τῶν ἀνθρώπων πιστεύουσιν ἔσεσθαι, ἀλλ' αὐτοὶ δῆθεν τὸν ἐρχόμενον προσδοκῶσιν, ὃν καὶ Ἠλειμμένον καλοῦσι, βασιλεύειν ἐπὶ γῆς αὐτὸν ἐλπίζουσι καὶ ὑποτάσσειν αὐτοῖς πάντα τὰ ἔθνη· οὐράνιά τινα μηδόλως ἀνεχόμενοι φρονεῖν, ἀθετοῦντες τοῦ Θεοῦ τὴν βουλὴν καὶ ἀκαίρως κατεσκευάσθαι νομίζοντες τὸ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς οἰκητήριον, ὅπερ Μωϋσῆς οὐκ ἀκαίρως δείκνυσι γεγονέναι λέγων τῇ δευτέρᾳ ἡμέρᾳ μεσάζειν τὸ στερέωμα καὶ γίνεσθαι δύο χώρους, ἐκπίπτουσι καὶ αὐτοὶ τούτου τοῦ κατοικητηρίου. 6.26 Ὁμοίως Σαμαρεῖται τὰ αὐτὰ τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις ἀγνοοῦντες καὶ ἀπιστοῦντες, ἔτι δὲ καὶ περὶ ἀναστάσεως σωμάτων ἀμφιβάλλοντες καὶ περὶ ἀθανασίας ψυχῆς, καὶ αὐτοὶ ὁμοίως τοῦ οὐρανίου κατοικητηρίου ἐκδιώκονται. Μανιχαῖοι παραπλήσια τοῖς Ἕλλησι φρονοῦντες, τόν τε οὐρανὸν καὶ αὐτοὶ σφαιροειδῆ νομίζοντες καὶ τῶν σωμάτων ἀπώλειαν προσδοκῶντες, μετὰ τοῦ πονηροῦ ἑαυτῶν θεοῦ, οὗ ἑαυτοῖς ἐχειροτόνησαν, περὶ τὴν γῆν κατακρίνονται, τῆς ἄνω πόλεως, ἧς ἠθέτουν, ἀπελαυνόμενοι. 6.27 Ὁμοίως καὶ πᾶσα αἵρεσις, ἡ μὲν ἀθετοῦσα τὴν τελείαν ἀνθρωπότητα τοῦ Χριστοῦ, λέγω δὴ ψυχὴν λογικὴν ἔννουν καὶ σῶμα, καὶ πάντα τὰ ἰδιώματα τῆς ψυχῆς καὶ τοῦ σώματος μὴ ὁμολογοῦσα, ἀλλ' ἐνδοιάζουσα, ἡ δὲ καὶ τὴν θεότητα τοῦ Χριστοῦ ἀθετοῦσα καὶ κολοβοῦσα καὶ ἥττονα τοῦ Πατρὸς λέγουσα, ἢ καὶ τὴν τοῦ Πνεύματος τοῦ ἁγίου, αὗται πᾶσαι τῶν οὐρανίων μονῶν ἀποτυγχάνουσιν. 6.28 Μακάριοι γοῦν εἰσιν ὅσοι διὰ τῶν θείων Γραφῶν, Παλαιᾶς τε καὶ Καινῆς ∆ιαθήκης, γνωρίζουσι τὸν τῶν ἁπάντων δημιουργὸν ἕνα Θεὸν εἶναι ἐν τρισὶν ὑποστάσεσι, Πατρὸς λέγω καὶ Υἱοῦ καὶ ἁγίου Πνεύματος, ἁγίαν Τριάδα ὁμοούσιον, ἰσοδύναμόν τε καὶ ἰσοσθενῆ καὶ ἰσοκλεᾶ καὶ ἰσότιμον καὶ συνάναρχον, καὶ τὴν μεγάλην καὶ σοφὴν καὶ παντοδύναμον οἰκονομίαν αὐτοῦ, τοῦ πάντων αἰτίου, ὡς σοφῶς καὶ ἁρμοδίως ἔκτισε τὰς δύο καταστάσεις ἐξ ἀρχῆς, ταύτην τε κἀκείνην, καὶ διὰ τῆς τελείας ἀνθρωπότητος τοῦ Κυρίου, τῆς ἡμῖν κατὰ πάντα ὁμοουσίου κατά τε ψυχὴν καὶ σῶμα χωρὶς ἁμαρτίας, πολιτευσαμένης ἐν ἐσχάτοις τοῖς καιροῖς, ἀναδείξαντα καὶ φανερώσαντα τὴν μέλλουσαν κατάστασιν καὶ πίστιν παρασχόντα πᾶσιν ἀναστήσας αὐτὴν ἐκ νεκρῶν. Ὅσοι οὖν τέλειοι τῷ κανόνι τούτῳ στοιχοῦσιν εἰρήνη ἐπ' αὐτοὺς καὶ ἔλεος καὶ ἐπὶ τὸν Ἰσραὴλ τοῦ Θεοῦοὗτοι ἀκούσονται δικαίως ἐν τῇ μελλούσῃ καταστάσει παρὰ τοῦ ∆εσπότου Χριστοῦ ἐξ οὐρανοῦ λέγοντος· "∆εῦτε, οἱ εὐλογημένοι τοῦ Πατρός μου, κληρονομήσατε τὴν ἡτοιμασμένην ὑμῖν βασιλείαν ἀπὸ καταβολῆς κόσμου."
