On the holy and sacred Thursday of the truly splendid and illustrious week, on which the supper of the divine mystagogy from the 764 wisdom above has been spread, a paganic procession is held in the splendid palace, and the invitation to the imperial supper is prepared by us in the morning, and it is necessary for us to prepare for the co-banquet of the lords, magistroi, praepositi, proconsuls, patricians, officials, protospatharioi eunuchs, primikerioi, ostiarioi, manglabitai, komites of the arithmos and kentarchoi according to the size of the table, and to invite these to the evening supper. So when the whole senate is dismissed and returns again at the ninth hour, all who have been invited come together to complete the sacred feast, and after the dismissal of the spiritual liturgy the imperial banquet is set forth in the conspicuous triclinium of Justinian, and when the emperor has taken his seat at the honored table, all who have been invited are brought in with their own skaramangia only, and at their departure, having received from us fatlia, they all exit with us. On the holy and honored Saturday, when the splendid palace has been opened, a public procession is held to Hagia Sophia, and when the covering of the honored and holy table is being changed, the emperor enters the skeuophylakion, and when the distribution of the nards has taken place, the emperor returns again with glory to his palace, and it is necessary for us to prepare for the co-banquet of the 765 emperor at the evening supper friends, magistroi, praepositi, proconsuls, patricians, protospatharioi officials, protospatharioi eunuchs, primikerioi, ostiarioi, manglabitai, topoteretai and from the archons of the arithmos according to the size of the table, and when the same banquet is arranged by the emperor, and the friends are invited by us, all are dismissed to their homes. And after the ninth hour, when a synaxis takes place, all of the senate change their clothes, and when the divine liturgy is being performed in the church of the Pharos, after the enunciation of the mystical instrument all take off their robes, and put on their own skaramangia, and the banquet is set in the most illustrious triclinium of Justinian, and all those who have been invited are brought in with their own skaramangia only; and after the presentation of the fatlia, all go out with us. The beginning of the banquets of Pascha. The holy and glorified illustrious day of Christ's resurrection, on which the main point of our salvation was ordained, and the earthly Adam returned from corruption to life, occasioned a certain splendid and conspicuous feast for our emperors. For mystically signifying the height of the sacred resurrection, having raised themselves from the lower seats, they bring themselves back up to a certain high and much-glorified contemplation of the 766 bema, and imitating the kiss of Christ's true love they kiss all their subjects with affection, and again with the splendid senate, like disciples, they run together with glory to the upper Sion, the church of Christ. For showing the all-glorious joy of the day, they wear splendid loroi, wrapping themselves as a type of the burial clothes of Christ. Wherefore also in their right hands holding the victorious trophy of the cross, the resurrection of our earthly substance in their left
