Sirach 5. As one who grasps a shadow and pursues the winds, so is one who pays attention to dreams.
(1000) Of Basil. For in large part, the apparitions in sleep are echoes of the day's thoughts.
For the phantasms in sleep are somehow, for the most part, echoes of the day's cares. For whatever our pursuits in life are, such must our dreams be also.
The nights, taking over the cares of the day, deceive the mind with their own phantasms.
To see desired things in a dream brings comfort to those who love. Those enslaved to drunkenness and gluttony choose neither genuine and
sincere sleep, nor are they freed from frightful dreams. (15Ε_454> Of the Theologian. Do not too much follow the games of dreams Nor have a mind easily startled at everything Nor be lifted up by favorable apparitions; These are often an ambush of the enemy. Fools are richer in their dreams, Than those who possess an abyss of riches. Chrysostom. He who pays attention to dreams is in every way unapproved. John Climacus. For the demon often loves to speak to men at night of the future,
not that they might be guarded from suffering it [for they cannot prevail against fate], but that suffering, they might bear it more lightly.
Of Nilus. He who pays attention to dreams is like one who chases his own shadow. Whenever we begin to obey the demons in our sleep, then from that point on also
they mock us when we are awake. Aeschines. To sleep beyond what is proper is more fitting for the dead than for the
living. DISCOURSE 66. On guilelessness and bearing grudges. (15Ε_456> Matthew 18. Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like
children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5. If you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember
that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there, and go first be reconciled to your brother, and then offer your gift.
1 Thessalonians 5. See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always pursue what is just.
Ephesians. Do not let the sun go down on your anger. Galatians 5. If you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not by one another
consumed. 1001 Proverbs 24. If your enemy falls, do not rejoice over him; and in his
stumbling, do not be exalted, for the Lord will see, and it will not please him, and he will turn his anger from him.
Proverbs 12. The ways of those who bear grudges lead to death. Proverbs 21. He who bears a grudge is lawless. Proverbs 14. The guileless one believes every word.
