«He gives to those who approach»: What the symbols signify. «To truly feast»: Note that the father etymologizes the name of feasting into

«to be well». «Life-giving and at the same time a nourisher of youths»: To nourish good young men. From Homer

this is; for 'koros' is the young man, and by pleonasm 'kouros', whence also 'kourotrophos'.

§ 5. «God is said to be intoxicated»: Note how God is said to be intoxicated, and from what and what is the intoxication in our case, and how ecstasy is spoken of in God's case.

«Being beyond understanding»: That God is both beyond understanding, and beyond being understood, and beyond being.

«Intoxicated at the same time»: Note in brief, how God is said to be intoxicated and in ecstasy.

«In the same way we will understand»: What are the so-called suppers, or banquets, in the kingdom of heaven.

«The reclining»: What is the reclining in the kingdom of heaven; that it is rest and a harmless life, and so forth.

«In which gladness»: The gladness, or to be of good cheer (15∆_476> (for this is gladness), he reasonably calls Jesus.

§ 6. «And the well-spoken-of sleep»: How he understood sleep and wakefulness in God's case.

«The symbolic theology»: Note what the «Symbolic Theology» contains. But more in detail, that is more broadly, it is articulated and formed.

ON THE 10th EPISTLE The epistle is worthy of that sacred antiquity, and of the disciple, whom

Jesus loved, proclaiming grace. It is possible to conjecture from the 7th epistle to Saint Polycarp that the great Dionysius, when he wrote these things, was about ninety years old. For in the one to Saint Polycarp he says that, while living in Heliopolis in Egypt, he witnessed the unnatural eclipse of the sun at the salvific cross of Christ, which happened in the 18th year of the reign of Tiberius. For in his 15th year the Lord Jesus began his preaching, as is shown in the Gospel according to Luke. And having preached for three years and a few months, our Lord and God suffers willingly, so it was the 18th year of Tiberius. And Tiberius reigned for about 23 years, so that from the salvific passion until the death of Tiberius was about another six years. And the holy evangelist John was exiled on the island of Patmos, which is one of the Cyclades, around the last year of the reign of Domitian. And this one reigned 15 years and 5 months. And there are counted from the 18th year of Tiberius, when the eclipse was, until the death of Domitian about 64 years and 7 months. And let us suppose that the divine Dionysius, when he saw the events on the cross of the Lord, was 25 years old, as I think, and still studying, so that the total is about ninety years. The exile of the most holy John under Domitian is mentioned by both Irenaeus in the third and fifth books of "Against Heresies," where he also noted the time (15∆_478>, and Clement of Alexandria, in the discourse concerning "Who is the Rich Man that is Saved."

«For not even in the ages»: Note that God is not the cause of the separation for sinners to the position on the left, but the sinners themselves are the cause of these things for themselves, having completely separated themselves from God.
