Therefore I am very discouraged concerning those who are chaste in error, because having chosen to be chaste without a good hope, they are hesitant to be baptized. Therefore they are not saved, because a decree of God is established that an unbaptized person not enter into his kingdom. When he had said these things and more, we went to sleep.

οἱ πεπλανημένοι διὰ σωφροσύνην μόνον σωθῆναι ἐδύναντο. διὰ τοῦτο λίαν ἀθυμῶ περὶ τῶν ἐν πλάνῃ σωφρονούντων ὅτι ἄνευ ἐλπίδος ἀγαθῆς σωφρονεῖν ἑλόμενοι πρὸς τὸ βαπτισθῆναι ὀκνηρῶς ἔχουσιν. διὸ οὐ σσ- ζονται, ὅτι δόγμα θεοῦ κεῖται ἀβάπτιστον εἰς τὴν αὐτοῦ βασιλείαν μὴ εἰσελθεῖν. ταῦτα αὐτοῦ εἰπόντος καὶ τούτων πλείονα εἰς ὕπνον ἐτράπημεν.
