And when both were arrested and handed over to Procopius the prefect, they gave evidence and denounced Belisarius the patrician. Immediately, therefore, the emperor became indignant with Belisarius; and many resorted to flight. And on the 5th of the month of December, the emperor held a silentium, bringing in also the most holy patriarch Eutychius, having ordered their depositions to be read out; and upon hearing them, Belisarius was greatly distressed and fell under the emperor's indignation.
