How He is also outside of all things and He Himself fills all things, (231) in night and in day and shines and is not seen? Will the human mind, tell me, comprehend all these things or have the strength to tell you? By no means, no angel, no archangel could tell you, nor would be able to present these things through words. These things, therefore, the Spirit of God, being Divine, alone knows and understands, as alone being of the same nature and enthroned with and co-eternal with the Son and the Father; to whom, therefore, this [Spirit] will shine again, to whom it is also richly united, it shows all things ineffably, in deed, I tell you, all things. For just as a blind man, if he should see, sees first the light, then also all creation, which is in the light - O wonder! - so the one whose soul is illumined by the Divine Spirit immediately comes into communion with the light and beholds light, the light of God, and assuredly God, who also shows all things, or rather, whatever He commands, whatever He wills and desires. (232) Those whom He illumines by His radiance, to these He gives the ability to see the things in the divine light. According to their love, and the keeping of the commandments, being enlightened they see and are initiated into the depth of hidden divine mysteries. Just as if someone in a dark house should enter holding a torch in his hand, or with another going before and holding the lamp, he himself sees the things that are inside the house, so the one illumined by the rays

πῶς καί ἔξω πέλει πάντων καί πληροῖ αὐτός τά πάντα, (231) ἐν νυκτί καί ἐν ἡμέρᾳ καί λάμπει καί οὐ καθορᾶται; Ταῦτα πάντα νοῦς, εἰπέ μοι, ὁ ἀνθρώπινος νοήσει ἤ εἰπεῖν σοι ἐξισχύσει; Οὔμενουν, οὐκ ἄγγελός σοι, οὐκ ἀρχάγγελος ἐξείποι, οὐδέ παραστῆσαι ταῦτα διά λόγου δυνηθείη. Ταῦτα οὖν Θεοῦ τό Πνεῦμα, Θεῖον ὄν, μόνον γινώσκει καί ἐπίσταται ὡς μόνον συμφυές καί σύνθρονόν τε καί συνάναρχον ὑπάρχον τῷ Υἱῷ καί τῷ Πατρί δέ˙ οἷς οὖν λάμψει τοῦτο αὖθις, οἷς καί συναφθῇ πλουσίως πάντα δείκνυσιν ἀφράστως, ἔργῳ σοι τά πάντα λέγω. Ὥσπερ γάρ τυφλός, εἰ βλέψει, βλέπει μέν τό φῶς ἐν πρώτοις, ἔπειτα καί πᾶσαν κτίσιν, τήν ἐν τῷ φωτί - ὤ θαῦμα! - οὕτως ὁ λαμφθείς τῷ Θείῳ Πνεύματι ψυχήν εὐθέως τοῦ φωτός ἐν μετουσίᾳ γίνεται καί φῶς θεᾶται, φῶς Θεοῦ, Θεόν τε πάντως, ὅς καί δείκνυσι τά πάντα, μᾶλλον δέ ὅσα κελεύει, ὅσα βούλεται καί θέλει. (232) Οὕς φωτίσει τῇ ἐλλάμψει, τούτοις δίδωσι τό βλέπειν τά ἐν τῷ φωτί τῷ θείῳ. Ἀναλόγως τῆς ἀγάπης, φυλακῆς τῶν ἐντολῶν δέ, φωτιζόμενοι ὁρῶσι καί μυοῦνται ἀποκρύφων μυστηρίων θείων βάθος. Ὥσπερ εἴ τις ἐν οἰκίᾳ σκοτεινῇ κρατῶν εἰσέλθοι ἐν χειρί αὐτοῦ λαμπάδα, ἤ προάγοντος ἑτέρου καί κατέχοντος τόν λύχνον, αὐτός καθορᾷ τά ἔνδον τῆς οἰκίας ὄντα, οὕτως ὁ λαμπόμενος ἀκτῖσι
