Blessed are those who have now put on His light, for they have already put on the wedding garment; who will not be bound hand or foot, nor will they be cast into the eternal fire.
Blessed are those who have seen Christ Himself in the body, but thrice-blessed are those who have seen and worshipped Him intellectually and spiritually, for they will never see death. And do not disbelieve this, seeing this also happens in earthly things; for condemned men who are deemed worthy to see the earthly king, are immediately released from the sentence that leads to death.
Blessed are those who daily eat Christ with such contemplation and knowledge, as Isaiah the prophet the coal, for they will be cleansed from every defilement of both soul and body.
Blessed are those who every hour taste the ineffable with the mouth of their mind, for they will walk becomingly as in the day (317) and will continue all the time in gladness.
Blessed are those who have already from here known the light of the Lord as Him Himself, for they will stand before Him without shame in the age to come.
Blessed are those who always live in the light of Christ, for they both are now and ever will be His brothers and co-heirs for all ages.
Blessed are those who have now kindled the light in their own heart and have kept it unquenchable, for they will joyfully go to meet the bridegroom at their departure from life and will enter with Him into the bridal chamber as torchbearers.
Blessed are those who have not reckoned within themselves that people receive the full assurance of their salvation not from here already, but at the departure from life, or even after the departure, for they will strive to receive it now.
Blessed are those who do not doubt any of the things that have been said or suspect this to be false, for they, even if they have none of these things, which I pray not, will at least surely strive to acquire them.
Blessed are those who with their whole soul seek to come to the light, having despised all other things, for, even if they do not manage to enter into the light while still in the body, yet they will perhaps depart with good hopes and will be in it, in a moderate way, nevertheless.
Blessed are those who always weep bitterly for their sins, for the light will overtake them and will turn their bitter tears into sweet ones.
Blessed are those who are illumined by the divine light and see their own (318) weakness and perceive the ugliness of their soul's garment, for they will weep unceasingly and will be washed clean by the streams of their tears.
Blessed are those who have drawn near to the divine light and entered within it and have become wholly light, having been mingled with it, for they have completely put off the filthy garment and will no longer weep bitter tears.
Blessed are those who see their own garment shining like Christ, for they will be filled every hour with inexpressible joy and in wonder will weep sweetly, concluding that they have already become sons and partakers of the resurrection.
Blessed are those who continually have the eye of the mind opened and in every prayer see the light and converse with it mouth to mouth, for they have become and will be equal in honor to the angels, and, if it is bold to say, even above the angels; for the latter sing hymns, but the former intercede. If they became and always are becoming such, while still living in this life and confined by the corruption of the flesh, what kind of

Μακάριοι οἱ τό φῶς αὐτοῦ νυνί ἐνδυσάμενοι, ὅτι τό τοῦ γάμου ἤδη περιεβάλοντο ἔνδυμα· οἵ οὐ δεθήσονται χεῖρας ἤ πόδας, οὐδέ εἰς τό πῦρ τό αἰώνιον ἐμβληθήσονται.
Μακάριοι οἱ ἐν σώματι τόν αὐτόν Χριστόν θεασάμενοι, τρισμακάριοι δέ οἱ νοερῶς αὐτόν καί πνευματικῶς ἰδόντες καί προσκυνήσαντες, ὅτι εἰς τόν αἰῶνα οὐ μή ὄψονται θάνατον. Καί μή ἀπίστει τοῦτο, ὁρῶν καί ἐν τοῖς ἐπιγείοις τοῦτο γινόμενον· οἱ γάρ τόν ἐπί γῆς βασιλέα ἰδεῖν καταξιωθέντες κατάδικοι, τῆς ἐπί θάνατον ἀγούσης ἀποφάσεως εὐθύς ἀπαλλάσσονται.
Μακάριοι οἱ τόν Χριστόν καθ᾿ ἑκάστην μετά τοιαύτης ἐσθίοντες θεωρίας καί γνώσεως, ὡς Ἠσαΐας ὁ προφήτης τόν ἄνθρακα, ὅτι αὐτοί καθαρθήσονται ἀπό παντός ῥύπου ψυχῆς τε καί σώματος.
Μακάριοι οἱ καθ᾿ ὥραν τοῦ ἀρρήτου γευόμενοι τῷ στόματι τοῦ νοός αὐτῶν, ὅτι αὐτοί ὡς ἐν ἡμέρᾳ εὐσχημόνως (317) περιπατήσουσι καί τόν ἅπαντα χρόνον ἐν εὐφροσύνῃ διατελέσουσι.
Μακάριοι οἱ τό φῶς τοῦ Κυρίου ὡς αὐτόν ἐκεῖνον ἀπ᾿ ἐντεῦθεν ἤδη γνωρίσαντες, ὅτι αὐτοί ἀνεπαισχύντως αὐτῷ ἐν τῷ αἰῶνι τῷ μέλλοντι παραστήσονται.
Μακάριοι οἱ ἐν τῷ φωτί τοῦ Χριστοῦ διάγοντες πάντοτε, ὅτι αὐτοί καί νῦν καί εἰς τούς αἰῶνας ἀδελφοί καί συγκληρονόμοι αὐτοῦ εἰσί τε καί ἀεί ἔσονται.
Μακάριοι οἱ τό φῶς ἐν τῇ ἑαυτῶν καρδίᾳ νυνί ἀνάψαντες καί ἄσβεστον τοῦτο διαφυλάξαντες, ὅτι αὐτοί τῷ νυμφίῳ ἐν τῇ τοῦ βίου ἐξόδῳ φαιδροί προσυπαντήσουσι καί μετ᾿ αὐτοῦ εἰς τόν νυμφῶνα λαμπαδοῦχοι συνεισελεύσονται.
Μακάριοι οἱ μή ἐν ἑαυτόῖς λογισάμενοι ὅτι οὐχί ἀπ᾿ ἐντεῦθεν ἤδη οἱ ἄνθρωποι τήν πληροφορίαν τῆς ἑαυτῶν σωτηρίας, ἀλλ᾿ ἐν τῇ ἐξόδῳ τοῦ βίου, ἤ καί μετά τήν ἔξοδον, ταύτην λαμβάνουσιν, ὅτι αὐτοί ταύτην νυνί λαβεῖν ἀγωνίσονται.
Μακάριοι οἱ ἐπί μηδενί τῶν εἰρημένων διστάζοντες ἤ ψευδές εἶναι τοῦτο ὑπονοήσαντες, ὅτι αὐτοί, εἰ καί μηδέν τούτων ἔχουσιν, ὅπερ ἀπεύχομαι, ἀλλά γε πάντως σπουδάσουσι κτήσασθαι.
Μακάριοι οἱ ὅλῃ ψυχῇ ἐκζητοῦντες ἐλθεῖν πρός τό φῶς, τῶν ἄλλων ἁπάντων καταφρονήσαντες, ὅτι, εἰ καί μή φθάσουσιν ἔτι ἐν σώματι ὄντες εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τό φῶς, ἀλλ᾿ οὖν γε ἴσως ἐλπίσι χρησταῖς ἐκδημήσουσι καί ἐν αὐτῷ, μετρίως μέν, ὅμως γενήσονται.
Μακάριοι οἱ ἀεί πικρῶς διά τά αὐτῶν ἁμαρτήματα κλαίοντες, ὅτι αὐτούς τό φῶς καταλάβῃ καί τά πικρά δάκρυα εἰς γλυκέα μεταποιήσει.
Μακάριοι οἱ τῷ θείῳ φωτί αὐγαζόμενοι καί τήν ἑαυτῶν (318) ἀσθένειαν βλέποντες καί τό δυσειδές τῆς ψυχικῆς αὐτῶν στολῆς κατανοοῦντες, ὅτι αὐτοί ἀενάως κλαύσονται καί τοῖς ὀχετοῖς τῶν δακρύων ἀποπλυνθήσονται.
Μακάριοι οἱ τῷ θείῳ φωτί πλησιάσαντες καί ἔνδον αὐτοῦ εἰσελθόντες καί φῶς ὅλοι γενόμενοι, συγκραθέντες αὐτῷ, ὅτο αὐτοί τήν ῥυπαράν τελείως στολήν ἀπεδύσαντο καί οὐκέτι πικρά δάκρυα κλαύσονται.
Μακάριοι οἱ τό ἑαυτῶν ἔνδυμα ὡς τόν Χριστόν ἐκλάμποντα βλέποντες, ὅτι αὐτοί ἀνεκφράστου χαρᾶς καθ᾿ ὥραν πλησθήσονται καί ἐν ἐκπλήξει γλυκέως δακρύσουσιν, υἱούς καί συμμετόχους ἑαυτούς ἤδη γεγονότας τῆς ἀναστάσεως τεκμαιρόμενοι.
Μακάριοι οἱ διηνεκῶς τό νοερόν ὄμμα ἀνεῳγμένον ἔχοντες καί ἐν πάσῃ εὐχῇ τό φῶς καθορῶντες καί στόμα πρός στόμα συλλαλοῦντες αὐτῷ, ὅτι αὐτοί ἰσότιμοι τῶν ἀγγέλων, εἰ τολμηρόν δέ εἰπεῖν, καί ὑπέρ ἀγγέλους ἐγένοντο καί γενήσονται· ἐκεῖνοι γάρ ὑμνοῦσιν, οὗτοι δέ ἐντυγχάνουσιν. Εἰ δέ τοιοῦτοι ἐγένοντο καί ἀεί γίνονται, ἔτι περιόντες τῷ βίῳ καί τῇ τῆς σαρκός φθορᾷ ἐμπεδούμενοι, ὁποῖοι ἄν
