and calls him a faithful deacon, and a fellow servant in the Lord, and having obtained the grace of teaching. He shows this by sending him from Rome for the exhortation of the churches, with Onesimus who was a citizen of Colossae, and appropriately sent to the Jews. Aristarchus my fellow prisoner. This is he who from Thessalonica departed with Paul. Since, therefore, he also went out with a prisoner, as one who was a captive among the Gentiles, he calls him a fellow prisoner. And Mark, the cousin of Barnabas, about whom you received commands, if he comes to you, receive him; and Jesus who is called Justus, who are of the circumcision. 95.904 These only are my fellow workers for the kingdom of God, who have been a comfort to me. And his kinship with Barnabas recommends the one named Mark. For Barnabas was better known. And he adds Jesus who is called Justus, perhaps the faithful so surnamed him out of reverence for the name of the Savior. And he says that these, being of the circumcision, are a comfort to him on account of the loss of his kinsmen. For to one who mourns for the lost, those who are saved are a consolation. Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, greets you, always striving for you in his prayers, that you may stand perfect and fulfilled in all the will of God. For I bear him witness that he has much zeal for you, and for those in Laodicea, and those in Hierapolis. Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you. Greet the brethren in Laodicea, and Nymphas. Kinship by race, and by country, and also by teaching, also effects something. And all these things were true of Epaphroditus with respect to the Colossians. He therefore shows the earnestness of his prayers in his account of these matters. And the church in his house. And when this epistle has been read among you, see that it is also read in the church of the Laodiceans. He also exhorts that the things of piety be practiced in the homes, calling also the homes churches. And that you also read the one from Laodicea. He means the first to Timothy. Some say that it was not the one sent by Paul to them. For he does not say, the one to the Laodiceans, but the one written by them to Paul from Laodicea. And say to Archippus: "See to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you fulfill it." The greeting is in my own hand, Paul's. He reminds this one, who had been commanded some diaconal care, to fulfill the command, and this in the Lord, so that nothing, neither great nor small, might be done otherwise, but according to God. Remember my chains. He is not ashamed of the chains, but even rejoices; and on account of these he knows himself to be worthy of remembrance. Grace be with you. Amen. The Apostle, having heard that the Thessalonians were afflicted, and fearing lest they might be moved from the faith, sends Timothy to them from Athens. And when he came and reported that they were steadfast, he writes to them rejoicing.
