rightly announces that the "God of gods" dwelling in Christ will appear through the person of Christ. 6.5.1 From Psalm 5. "Sing to the Lord a new song, sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, bless his name, proclaim his salvation from day to day. declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples. for the Lord is great and greatly to be praised, he is to be feared above all gods," 6.5.2 and again; "Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the nations," and again; "say among the nations, the Lord has reigned as king," 6.5.3 and adds to all these; "then shall all the trees of the forest rejoice before the face of the Lord, for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth; he will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his truth." 6.5.4 And here again the Lord coming to men is prophesied, and that a new song will be sung at his coming, clearly, the new covenant, not to the nation of the Jews but to all the earth, and that the good news will be proclaimed no longer to Israel but to all the nations, since it says the coming Lord will be their king. 6.5.5 Who could this be but the divine Word, who, about to judge the world with righteousness and humanity with truth, has equally deemed all people on earth worthy of his calling and of the salvation with God that comes with it? 6.6.1 From Psalm 7. "Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things," and what follows; "the Lord has made known his salvation in the sight of all the nations; he has revealed his righteousness," and again; "all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth," and to all these; "the mountains will rejoice before the face of the Lord, for he comes, for he has come to judge the earth; he will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in uprightness." 6.6.2 Through these words also the coming of the Lord is prophesied to have been the cause of many good things for the nations, which are also shown to have been brought to fulfillment through the appearance of our Savior. For from that time and not before the new song of the new covenant is sung to all men and his marvelous deeds, through the writing of the Gospels, become known and heard by all. Moreover, his salvation also, which is according to his resurrection from the dead, was revealed to all the nations, and the true righteousness, through which it was clearly shown that God is not of the Jews only but also of the nations. 6.6.3 "since God is one," according to the holy apostle, "who will justify the circumcision by faith and the uncircumcision through faith." And the phrase "for he comes to judge the earth" would also be indicative of his second coming. 6.7.1 From Psalm 100. "Let them give thanks to the Lord for his mercies and for his wondrous works to the children of men. For he has broken gates of bronze, and shattered bars of iron. He helped them out of the way of their lawlessness, for because of their iniquities they were brought low. Their soul abhorred all food, and they drew near to the gates of death. And they cried to the Lord in their affliction, and he saved them from their distresses. He sent his word and healed them, and delivered them from their corruptions," 6.7.2 and after other things; "Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and praise him in the seat of the elders. He turned rivers into a desert, and springs of water into thirsty ground, a fruitful land into saltness, for the wickedness of those who dwell in it. He turned the desert into pools of water, and a waterless land into springs of water. And there he made the hungry to dwell, and they established a city for habitation." 6.7.3 And these things clearly by name proclaim the good news of the descent of the Word of God from heaven, and the achievements of his coming. "He sent," it says, "his Word and healed them." And we say that this is clearly the Word of God, the Savior sent from the Father to all men, whom we also proclaim as God through the holy Gospels
