showing, the living creatures Him who gave them life, the trees Him who made them grow; all of which, having come into being by Your word, demonstrate the might of Your power. Therefore every man ought from his very breast to send up to You through Christ the hymn for all things, because You rule over all things. For You are good in benefactions and bountiful in compassions, the only Almighty; for when You will, the power is present to You; for Your eternal might both cools a flame and muzzles lions and calms sea monsters and raises the sick and alters powers and lays low an army of enemies and a people numbered in their pride. You are the one in heaven, the one on earth, the one in the sea, the one in the bounded places, bounded by no one; "For of your greatness there is no end." For this is not our saying, Lord, it is the oracle of your servant who says: "And you shall know in your heart that the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below, and there is no other besides Him." For there is no God except You alone, there is no holy one except You, Lord God of knowledge, God of saints, holy above all saints; "For the sanctified are under Your hands;" glorious and highly exalted, invisible by nature, unsearchable in judgments; whose life is without need, whose permanence is immutable and unfailing, whose working is unwearied, whose majesty is uncircumscribed, whose beauty is everlasting, whose dwelling is unapproachable, whose abode is immovable, whose knowledge is without beginning, whose truth is unchangeable, whose work is unmediated, whose dominion is unassailable, whose monarchy is without successor, whose kingdom is without end, whose strength is irresistible, whose army is numerous. For You are the father of wisdom, the creator of creation through a mediator as its cause, the provider of providence, the giver of laws, the fulfiller of need, the punisher of the impious and the rewarder of the just, the God and Father of Christ and the Lord of those who are pious toward Him, whose promise is unfailing, whose judgment is unbribable, whose will is unchangeable, whose piety is unceasing, whose thanksgiving is eternal, through whom also fitting worship is owed to You from every rational and holy nature. Lord Almighty, You created the world through Christ and appointed a sabbath in memory of this, because on it You rested from works for meditation on Your laws, and You ordained feasts for the gladness of our souls, so that we may come to the memory of the wisdom created by You;

δεικνύων, ζῷα τὸν ψυχώσαντα, δένδρα τὸν ἐκφύσαντα· ἅπερ ἅπαντα τῷ σῷ λόγῳ γενόμενα παριστᾷ τῆς σῆς δυνάμεως τὸ κράτος. ∆ιὸ καὶ ὀφείλει πᾶς ἄνθρωπος ἐξ αὐτῶν τῶν στέρνων σοὶ διὰ Χριστοῦ τὸν ὑπὲρ πάντων ὕμνον ἀνα πέμπειν, διὰ σὲ τῶν ἁπάντων κρατῶν. Σὺ γὰρ εἶ ὁ χρηστὸς ἐν εὐεργεσίαις καὶ φιλόδωρος ἐν οἰκτιρμοῖς, ὁ μόνος παντοκράτωρ· ὅτε γὰρ θέλεις, πάρεστί σοι τὸ δύνασθαι· τὸ γὰρ σὸν αἰώνιον κράτος καὶ φλόγα καταψύχει καὶ λέοντας φιμοῖ καὶ κήτη καταπραΰνει καὶ νοσοῦντας ἐγείρει καὶ δυνάμεις μετατρέπει καὶ στρατὸν ἐχθρῶν καὶ λαὸν ἀριθμούμενον ἐν τῷ ὑπερηφανεύεσθαι καταστρώννυσιν. Σὺ εἶ ὁ ἐν οὐρανῷ, ὁ ἐπὶ γῆς, ὁ ἐν θαλάσσῃ, ὁ ἐν περατουμένοις ὑπὸ μηδενὸς περατούμενος· «Τῆς γὰρ μεγαλοσύνης σου οὐκ ἔστιν πέρας.» Μὴ γὰρ ἡμέτερόν ἐστιν τοῦτο, δέσποτα, τοῦ θεράποντός σου λόγιόν ἐστιν φάσκοντος· «Καὶ γνώσῃ τῇ καρδίᾳ σου, ὅτι Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου, Θεὸς ἐν οὐρανῷ ἄνω καὶ ἐπὶ γῆς κάτω, καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἔτι πλὴν αὐτοῦ.» Oὐδὲ γὰρ ἔστι Θεὸς πλὴν σοῦ μόνου, ἅγιος οὐκ ἔστι πλὴν σοῦ, Κύριος Θεὸς γνώσεων, Θεὸς ἁγίων, ἅγιος ὑπὲρ πάντας ἁγίους· «Oἱ γὰρ ἡγιασμένοι ὑπὸ τὰς χεῖράς σού εἰσινή· ἔνδοξος καὶ ὑπερυψούμενος, ἀόρατος τῇ φύσει, ἀνεξιχνίαστος κρίμασιν· οὗ ἀνενδεὴς ἡ ζωή, ἄτρε πτος καὶ ἀνεκλιπὴς ἡ διαμονή, ἀκάματος ἡ ἐνέργεια, ἀπερίγραφος ἡ μεγαλειότης, ἀένναος ἡ εὐπρέπεια, ἀπρόσιτος ἡ κατοικία, ἀμετανάστευτος ἡ κατασκήνωσις, ἄναρχος ἡ γνῶσις, ἀναλλοίωτος ἡ ἀλήθεια, ἀμεσίτευτον τὸ ἔργον, ἀνε πιβούλευτον τὸ κράτος, ἀδιάδοχος ἡ μοναρχία, ἀτελεύτητος ἡ βασιλεία, ἀνανταγώνιστος ἡ ἰσχύς, πολυάριθμος ἡ στρατιά. Σὺ γὰρ εἶ ὁ σοφίας πατήρ, ὁ δημιουργίας τῆς διὰ μεσίτου κτίστης ὡς αἴτιος, ὁ προνοίας χορηγός, ὁ νόμων δοτήρ, ὁ ἐνδείας πληρωτής, ὁ τῶν ἀσεβῶν τιμωρὸς καὶ τῶν δικαίων μισθαποδότης, ὁ τοῦ Χριστοῦ Θεὸς καὶ Πατὴρ καὶ τῶν εἰς αὐτὸν εὐσεβούντων Κύριος, οὗ ἀδιάψευστος ἡ ἐπαγγελία, ἀδωροδόκητος ἡ κρίσις, ἀμετάπιστος ἡ γνώμη, ἄπαυστος ἡ εὐσέβεια, ἀΐδιος ἡ εὐχαριστία, δι' οὗ σοι καὶ ἡ ἐπάξιος προσκύνησις ὀφείλεται παρὰ πάσης λογικῆς καὶ ἁγίας φύσεως. Κύριε παντοκράτορ, κόσμον ἔκτισας διὰ Χριστοῦ καὶ σάββατον ὥρισας εἰς μνήμην τούτου, ὅτι ἐν αὐτῷ κατέ παυσας ἀπὸ τῶν ἔργων εἰς μελέτην τῶν σῶν νόμων, καὶ ἑορτὰς διετάξω εἰς εὐφροσύνην τῶν ἡμετέρων ψυχῶν, ὅπως εἰς μνήμην ἐρχώμεθα τῆς ὑπὸ σοῦ κτισθείσης σοφίας·
