and I may be filled and then impart to all others and having departed may I come to you, wholly glorified, from your light I too having become light may stand beside you and then I will be free from care of these many evils, I shall be delivered from the fear of turning back again. Yes, give this to me, Master, yes, grant this to me, you who have given all other things freely to me, the unworthy one. For of this there is greatest need, this is everything; for if even now you are seen by me, if even now you have compassion, if even now you enlighten me and mystically teach me and shelter and guard me with your mighty hand and are present with me and turn back and destroy demons and subject all things to me and provide all things for me and fill me with all good things, O my God, but these are of no benefit to me, if you do not grant me to pass unashamedly through the gates of death. Unless the prince of darkness should come and see your glory accompanying me and be utterly shamed, the dark one consumed by your unapproachable light, and all the opposing powers with him (224) be turned back seeing the sign of your seal, and I should pass through, confident in your grace, wholly unshaken, and draw near and fall down before you, what benefit to me are the things happening in me now? Truly none, but they will kindle the fire for me more. For I who hope to partake of good things and eternal glory, and to be your servant and friend, if I should be deprived of all things and of you yourself, my Christ, how will my affliction not be worse than that of the faithless, of those who have not known you, of those who have not seen your light shine and have not been filled with your sweetness? But if it befalls me to attain the ends of these pledges and to receive the prizes, Savior, which you have promised to those who have believed in you, Christ, then I too shall be blessed and I will praise you, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, the one true God, unto ages of ages, amen.
