And after the renunciation, let him, joining himself, say: And I join myself to Christ; and I believe and am baptized into one unbegotten, only true God Almighty, the Father of Christ, creator and maker of all things, from whom are all things; and into the Lord Jesus Christ, his only-begotten Son, the firstborn of all creation, who before the ages was begotten by the good pleasure of the Father, not created, through whom all things were made, things in heaven and on earth, both visible and invisible; who in the last days came down from heaven and took on flesh, born of the holy virgin Mary, and lived holily according to the laws of his God and Father, and was crucified under Pontius Pilate and died for us, and rose from the dead after his passion on the third day and ascended into the heavens and sat down at the right hand of the Father, and is coming again at the end of the age with glory to judge the living and the dead, of whose kingdom there will be no end; I am baptized also into the Holy Spirit, that is, the Paraclete, who worked in all the saints from the beginning of the age, but afterward was sent also to the apostles from the Father according to the promise of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, and after the apostles to all who believe in the holy catholic and apostolic Church; into the resurrection of the flesh and into the remission of sins and into the kingdom of heaven and into the life of the age to come. And after this profession, he comes in order also to the anointing with oil. And this is blessed by the high priest for the remission of sins and for the preparation of baptism. For he invokes the unbegotten God, the Father of Christ, the king of all sensible and intelligible nature, that he may sanctify the oil in the name of the Lord Jesus and give spiritual grace and effective power, both remission of sins and preparation of the confession of baptism, so that the one being anointed, released from all impiety, may become worthy of the initiation according to the command of the Only-begotten. Καὶ μετὰ τὴν ἐπαγγελίαν ταύτην κατ' ἀκολουθίαν ἔρχεται καὶ εἰς τὴν τοῦ ἐλαίου χρῖσιν. Eὐλογεῖται δὲ τοῦτο παρὰ τοῦ ἀρχιερέως εἰς ἄφεσιν ἁμαρτιῶν καὶ προκατασκευὴν τοῦ βαπτίσματος. Ἐπικαλεῖται γὰρ οὗτος τὸν ἀγέννητον Θεόν, τὸν Πατέρα τοῦ Χριστοῦ, τὸν βασιλέα πάσης αἰσθητῆς καὶ νοητῆς φύσεως, ἵνα ἁγιάσῃ τὸ ἔλαιον τῷ ὀνόματι τοῦ Κυρίου Ἰησοῦ καὶ δώσῃ χάριν πνευματικὴν καὶ δύναμιν ἐνεργητικήν, ἄφεσίν τε ἁμαρτιῶν καὶ προπαρα σκευὴν ὁμολογίας βαπτίσματος, ὥστε τὸν χριόμενον ἀπο λυθέντα πάσης ἀσεβείας ἄξιον γενέσθαι τῆς μυήσεως κατ' ἐντολὴν τοῦ Μονογενοῦς. Eἶτα ἔρχεται εἰς τὸ ὕδωρ. Eὐλογεῖ καὶ δοξάζει τὸν δεσπότην Θεὸν τὸν παντοκράτορα, τὸν Πατέρα τοῦ μονογενοῦς Θεοῦ, εὐχαριστῶν ὁ ἱερεύς, ὅτι ἀπέστειλεν
