in power and in glory, and how everywhere and in all things, but exceptionally among these dwells in the saints and tabernacles knowably in them and essentially, He who is altogether super-essential? How is He who holds together all creation held in the inward parts, and how does He shine in the heart, the fleshly and dense one, how is He both inside it, how is He also outside of all things and Himself fills all things, (231) by night and by day and shines and is not seen? All these things, tell me, will the human mind comprehend or be able to tell you? Certainly not, not an angel, not an archangel could tell you, nor could he represent these things through words. These things, therefore, the Spirit of God, being divine, alone knows and understands, as He alone is of one nature and enthroned with and co-unoriginate with the Son and the Father; to whom therefore this shines again, to whom it is also richly joined, it shows all things inexpressibly, by deed, I tell you, all things. For just as a blind man, if he should see, sees first the light, then also all creation, that which is in the light — O wonder! — so also he whose soul has been illumined by the Divine Spirit immediately enters into participation of the light and beholds light, the light of God, and God certainly,

Ταῦτα οὖν Θεοῦ τό Πνεῦμα, Θεῖον ὄν, μόνον γινώσκει καί ἐπίσταται ὡς μόνον συμφυές καί σύνθρονόν τε καί συνάναρχον ὑπάρχον τῷ Υἱῷ καί τῷ Πατρί δέ˙ οἷς οὖν λάμψει τοῦτο αὖθις, οἷς καί συναφθῇ πλουσίως πάντα δείκνυσιν ἀφράστως, ἔργῳ σοι τά πάντα λέγω. Ὥσπερ γάρ τυφλός, εἰ βλέψει, βλέπει μέν τό φῶς ἐν πρώτοις, ἔπειτα καί πᾶσαν κτίσιν, τήν ἐν τῷ φωτί - ὤ θαῦμα! - οὕτως ὁ λαμφθείς τῷ Θείῳ Πνεύματι ψυχήν εὐθέως τοῦ φωτός ἐν μετουσίᾳ γίνεται καί φῶς θεᾶται, φῶς Θεοῦ, Θεόν τε πάντως,
