who also shows all things, or rather, as much as he commands, as much as he plans and wills. (232) Those whom he enlightens with his radiance, to these he gives the ability to see the things in the divine light. In proportion to their love, and their keeping of the commandments, being enlightened they see and are initiated into the depth of hidden divine mysteries. Just as if someone holding a torch in his hand should enter a dark house, or with another going before and holding the lamp, he himself sees the things that are inside the house, so he who is brightly illumined by the rays of the spiritual sun sees the things unknown to all others and speaks, yet not all things, but as much as he might be able to express in word. For who will ever have the strength to declare the things there—of what sort, how many, of what kind they are, being both incomprehensible and invisible to all? For the form of the formless, the quantity of the unquantifiable, the beauty of the incomprehensible—who will comprehend it, how will he measure it, how will he have the strength to speak of it at all? And the forms of the formless, (233) how will he describe them in word? In no way at all, you will tell me. But only those who see these things know them. Therefore let us hasten not with words, but with deeds to seek, to see, and to be taught
