of you our God and Savior, the creator of all things through him, the provider, the guardian, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who dwells on high and looks upon the humble; you who gave the boundaries of the Church through the incarnate presence of your Christ, under the witness of the Paraclete, through your apostles and our teachers, the bishops present by your grace, who from the beginning foreordained priests for the supervision of your people, Abel in the first place, Seth and Enos and Enoch and Noah and Melchizedek and Job; who appointed Abraham and the rest of the patriarchs with your faithful servants Moses and Aaron and Eleazar and Phinehas, who from them chose rulers and priests in the tabernacle of testimony, who chose Samuel as priest and prophet, who did not leave your sanctuary without liturgy, who was pleased to be glorified in those whom you chose; you yourself now also, through the mediation of your Christ, through us, pour out the power of your governing Spirit, which is ministered by your beloved child Jesus Christ, which he bestowed by your will on your holy apostles of the eternal God. Grant in your name, O God, knower of hearts, upon this your servant, whom you have chosen for the episcopate, to shepherd your holy flock and to serve as high priest to you, ministering blamelessly night and day and propitiating your countenance, to gather together the number of the saved and to offer to you the gifts of your holy Church. Grant to him, almighty Master, through your Christ, the participation in the Holy Spirit, so as to have authority to forgive sins according to your command, to assign lots according to your precept, and to loose every bond according to the authority which you gave to the apostles, and to be well-pleasing to you in meekness and a pure heart, unswervingly, blamelessly, irreproachably offering to you a pure and bloodless sacrifice, which you ordained through Christ, the mystery of the new covenant, as a fragrant aroma through your holy Child Jesus Christ our God and Savior, through whom to you be glory, honor, and worship in the Holy Spirit, now and forever and unto the ages of ages. And when he has prayed these things, let the rest of the priests say in addition: Amen, and with them all the people. And after the prayer, let one of the bishops offer up the sacrifice upon the hands of the one ordained.
