scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, who delivered to us the man-slaying serpent as a captive, like a sparrow to children, whom all things shudder at and tremble from the face of Your power, who cast him down like lightning from heaven to earth, not by a casting of place, but from honor to dishonor through his own willful malice; Whose glance dries up the abyss and threat melts mountains and truth remains forever, whom infants praise and nursing babes bless, whom angels hymn and worship; He who looks upon the earth and makes it tremble, who touches the mountains and they smoke, who rebukes the sea and dries it up and makes desolate all the rivers, whose clouds are the dust of his feet, who walks upon the sea as upon dry land; Only-begotten God, Son of the great Father, rebuke the evil spirits and deliver the works of Your hands from the energy of the alien spirit, for to You is glory, honor, and worship, and through You to Your Father in the Holy Spirit, for ever; amen. Let the deacon say: Come forth, you who are possessed. And after this let him proclaim: Pray, you who are being illumined. Let all the faithful earnestly entreat on their behalf, that the Lord may count them worthy, having been initiated into the death of Christ, to rise with him and to become partakers of his kingdom and communicants of his mysteries, may he unite and number them among those who are being saved in his holy Church. Again, let us pray earnestly for them: save and raise them up by Your grace. Having been sealed to God through his Christ, bow your heads. Let them then be blessed by the bishop with this blessing: He who said beforehand through your holy prophets to those being initiated: "Wash yourselves, be clean," and through Christ legislated spiritual rebirth; may he himself now look upon those being baptized and bless them and sanctify them, and prepare them to become worthy of your spiritual gift and of your true adoption, of your spiritual mysteries, of the gathering with those who are being saved through Christ our savior, through whom to you is glory, honor, and worship in the Holy Spirit, forever; amen. And let the deacon say: Come forth, you who are being illumined. And after this let him proclaim:
