he laid hands, but proceeded, so to speak, against everything good and sacred and divine, both present and past, both what is in our power and what is not in our power, both what is hoped for and what is now granted to the worthy as a kind of pledge, to the saints both before the law and after the law; of whom each of the leaders of the heresies in turn opposed a few (p. 724), this man, having now arrayed himself against all of them together, has brought forth a treatise full of every terrible heresy, slandering in many ways all the saints and almost all their doctrines, so that it is easy for us, by setting forth a few syllables from each of the saints, and then reading over this wicked tablet, to make it immediately clear to all, that he does not hesitate to call heretical and impious, atheistic and polytheistic and accursed those who wrote them. If, then, anyone disbelieving us actively wishes to see the truth, let him come to us and learn, with such treatises openly set forth; but if, reasonably or not, he chooses to approve the accuser of the saints, he himself will bear his own judgment, whoever he may be.
