reveals, saying to them in a mystery: "Run with haste, you also, that you may receive," pointing his finger and showing them the one who gave him the coin, and if they still disbelieve, uncovering it on his palm he also shows it, so that believing they might use haste and quickly overtake that merciful man, so indeed also I, the humble one, the poor and naked of good and servant of the holiness of you all, having received experience of the love of humankind and compassion of God, as having approached Him through repentance (423) and through the mediation of the holy Symeon, my father and your father, having received grace, I who am unworthy of all grace, I cannot bear to hide this alone in the bosom of my soul, but to all of you, my brothers and fathers, I declare the gifts of God and what sort of talent has been given to me, as far as it is in me, I make it manifest to you and through my word, as if on my palm I lay it bare, and I speak not as in a corner and in a mystery, but crying with a loud voice: "Run, brothers, run," and I not only cry, but I also show the giving Lord, putting forth my word to you again instead of a finger. For if a man gives an obol to some poor man, then if that one should announce him for the purpose of giving to others as well, he becomes angry and is hardened more towards giving, but God is not so, but does entirely the opposite. For if He gives someone a spiritual gift or talent and he does not proclaim and publish it to all, saying, "Come to the Lord who gives freely and sends no one away empty," but having received it should hide it by burying it, then He is more angry with the one who received it, as envious and not wanting his own brothers to receive, as he himself received.

For this reason, therefore, the wonders of God which I have seen and which I have known by deed and experience, I cannot bear not to speak of, but I also testify beforehand to all the rest as in the presence of God, saying with a loud voice: "Run, all of you, before the door of repentance is shut to you by death, run so that you may reach it before your departure, make haste so that you may receive, knock so that before the end (424) the Lord may open to you the gates of paradise and manifest Himself to you, be zealous to acquire the kingdom of heaven within you consciously and not depart from here empty of it, and especially those who suppose they have it within themselves unconsciously, yet through that supposition have nothing."

How then, tell me, shall he who has not acquired the mind of Christ see the Father of Christ? And he who does not see Him speaking within him, by what means or how shall he say, "Abba, Father"? He who has not consciously acquired the kingdom of heaven within him, how shall he enter into it after death? He who has not beheld the Son with the Father abiding in him through the Spirit, how shall he be with them in the age to come, as the Lord said: "Father, those whom you have given me, I will that where I am, they also may be with me," and again: "I do not pray for these only, but also for all who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us. And the glory which you gave me I have given them, that they may be one as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them as you have loved me."

This then, brothers, is the manner of my, as some suppose, boasting. Thus the love of God moves me to reveal to you, my fathers and (425) brothers, the ineffable goodness and love of God towards us, through which He thus and in such great things glorifies without envy those who have hoped in Him.
