Let us arise. Having prayed earnestly, let us commend ourselves and one another to the living God through his Christ. Therefore let the high priest pray and say. Lord Almighty, Most High who dwells in the highest, Holy who rests in the holy ones, without beginning, sole ruler, who through Christ has given us the preaching of knowledge for the full knowledge of your glory and your name, which he has revealed to us for our comprehension; now also look upon this your flock through him, and deliver it from all ignorance and evil practice, and grant that they may fear you with fear and love you with love and shrink from the face of your glory. Be gracious and merciful to them and attentive to their prayers, and keep them unchangeable, blameless, irreproachable, that they may be holy in body and soul, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that they may be perfect and none among them be maimed or imperfect. O mighty Helper who shows no partiality, be a helper of this your people, whom you chose from myriads, whom you redeemed with the precious blood of your Christ, a protector, a helper, a steward, a guardian, a most fortified wall, a hedge of safety, for from your hand no one is able to snatch away; for there is no other God like you, for in you is our patience. Sanctify them in your truth, for your word is truth, who are without gift, beyond reckoning; deliver them from all sickness and all infirmity, from every transgression, from all insolence and deceit, from fear of the enemy, from the arrow that flies by day, from the thing that walks in darkness; and count them worthy of the eternal life which is in your Christ, your only-begotten Son, our God and Savior, through whom to you be glory and worship in the Holy Spirit, now and always and for ages of ages. Amen. And after this let the deacon say: Let us attend. And let the bishop greet the Church and say: The peace of God be with you all. And let the people answer: And with your spirit. And let the deacon say to all: Greet one another with a holy kiss. And let those of the clergy greet the bishop, the lay men the laymen, the women the women. And let the children stand by the bema, and let another deacon be set over them, so that they may not be disorderly; and let other deacons walk about and observe the men
