he subdues the tyrants and kills Abdela, son of Zuber, and Dadachos.

Ruler of the Arabs Abimelech, 22 years.

Bishop of Constantinople Theodore again, 3 years.

10. 1. 1.

In this year there was a great famine and plague in Syria, and Abimelech took control of the nation.

And with the Mardaites attacking the regions of Lebanon, and with the plague prevailing, the same Abimelech asks for the peace that was sought in the time of Muawiya, having sent ambassadors to the emperor, agreeing to pay the same 365 thousand gold nomismata, and the 365 slaves, and likewise 365 noble horses.

17. 2. 2.

In this year the pious emperor Constantine died, having ruled for 17 years, and Justinian his son became emperor. [It must be known that some babble idly and foolishly, saying that after four years there came to be the summary canons, as they are called by them, of the sixth council. For just as they are convicted of speaking falsely in all things, they are proven to be speaking nothing true in these matters either. For the precise chronological record says that the holy sixth ecumenical council against the Monothelites took place in the 12th year of the reign of Constantine, grandson of Heraclius, in the year 6172 from the creation of the world. And that after this the same Constantine reigned 5 years, and when he died, Justinian his son ruled alone for 10 years, and when Justinian was cast out, Leontius ruled for 3 years, and after Leontius, Tiberius, also known as Apsimar, for 7 years, and again Justinian, who had been cast out, for years. So that it is found from the published canons themselves that they were set forth in the 2nd year of the last reign of the same slit-nosed Justinian, containing in the 3rd canon in these very words: "We decree that those who have been involved in two 362 marriages and up to the 15th of the past month of January of the past 4th indiction, year 6199, have been enslaved to sin and have not chosen to become sober from it, should be subjected to canonical deposition." And after other things: "But those who after ordination have unlawfully contracted one marriage, that is, presbyters and deacons and subdeacons, having already been barred from the sacred liturgy for some short time and rebuked, should be restored again to their own ranks, in no way advancing to a higher rank, after their unlawful cohabitation has been clearly dissolved." So that from this chronological record it is shown very clearly that 27 years are reckoned from the holy sixth ecumenical council until the published canons, with George being patriarch of Constantinople at the holy ecumenical council, it being the 3rd year of his patriarchate, and who was patriarch for another 3 years after the council, and after him Theodore for 3 years, and Paul for 7 years, and Kallinikos for 12 years, and Kyros for 2 years, so that from these patriarchs also 27 years are reckoned. And from the published canons until the first year of Philippikos, 5 years; and in that same first year of the reign of Philippikos a mad council took place against the holy sixth ecumenical council; and when Kyros was driven out in the year of his patriarchate, John became patriarch of Constantinople, and Andrew metropolitan of Crete and Germanos metropolitan of Kyzikos, who clearly subscribed and anathematized along with all those of the same times the aforesaid holy ecumenical council against the Monothelites; and after 3 years when John died, Germanos was transferred from Kyzikos and became patriarch of Constantinople, and in the 13th year of the reign of Leo he was exiled, and Anastasios came and was patriarch for 24 years; and after him Constantine for 12 years, and Niketas for 14, and Paul for 5, and Tarasios for 21, and Nikephoros for 8, and Theodotos for years, and Antonios for 10, and John the Lekanomantis for years and 1 month.]
