of reverence without disturbance. And let the bishop give the offering, saying: The Body of Christ. And let the one receiving say: Amen. And let the deacon hold the cup and, while giving it, say: The Blood of Christ, the cup of life. And let the one drinking say: Amen. And let Psalm 33 be said while all the rest are partaking. And when all the men and all the women have partaken, let the deacons take what is left over and bring it into the pastophoria. And when the psalmist has ceased, let the deacon say: Having partaken of the precious body and the precious blood of Christ, let us give thanks to him who has deemed us worthy to partake of his holy mysteries, and let us entreat that it may be for us not for judgment, but for salvation, for the benefit of soul and body, for the keeping of piety, for the remission of sins, for the life of the age to come. Let us arise; in the grace of Christ let us commend ourselves to the only unbegotten God through his Christ. And let the bishop give thanks: Master, God Almighty, the Father of your Christ, your blessed Child, who hears those who call upon you with uprightness, who also knows the petitions of those who are silent; we thank you, that you have counted us worthy to partake of your holy mysteries, which you have provided for us for the full assurance of the things well known, for the keeping of piety, for the remission of offenses, because the name of your Christ has been called upon us and we are made your own. You who have separated us from the communion of the impious, unite us with those who have been consecrated to you, establish us in the truth by the visitation of the Holy Spirit, reveal the things unknown, supply what is lacking, strengthen the things known. Keep the priests blameless in your worship, preserve the kings in peace, the rulers in justice, the air in good temperature, the fruits in abundance, the world in all-powerful providence; pacify the warlike nations, turn back those who have gone astray. Sanctify your people, preserve those in virginity, keep those in marriage in faith, strengthen those in purity, make the infants grow, confirm the newly-initiated, instruct those in the catechumenate and show them worthy of the initiation, and gather us all together into the kingdom of heaven in Christ Jesus our Lord, through whom to you be glory, honor
