among the living and blessed and in an inheritance of rest Abraham was enrolled by the Lord and Lazarus was deemed worthy of his bosom. Therefore, Marcion, no longer blaspheme Abraham, the one who knew his own master and said to him, "Lord, who judges all the earth." For behold, by the Lord 2.143 himself he was testified to be righteous and not a stranger to the life praised by the savior. 20Scholion20 ˉμˉε. "But now he is comforted," the same Lazarus. 20Refutation20 ˉμˉε. If Lazarus is comforted in the bosom of Abraham, Abraham is not outside the comfort of life. Scholion ˉμˉς. Abraham said, "They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them, since they will not even listen to one who rises from the dead." 20Refutation20 ˉμˉς. Not as one still being in the world and as one deceived does Abraham testify to the law of Moses and to the prophets, nor as one not knowing the things that would result from these, but after having had experience of the rest there. for after death he is testified to by the savior in the parable as having acquired salvation by the doctrines of the law and prophets, and having done these things before the law. and likewise also that those after these things who kept the law and obeyed the prophets are in his bosom and go with him into life; of whom Lazarus was one, who through the law and prophets was deemed worthy of the life-giving bosom of the blessedness of Abraham. 20Scholion20 ˉμˉζ. He cut out the part, "say that we are unworthy servants; we have done what we were obliged to do." 20Refutation20 ˉμˉζ. And the security of the Lord's teaching he does not accept. For securing his own disciples, so that they might not lose the reward of their work through arrogance, he admonished them to be humble. But this one does not accept it; for he was puffed up with pride in all things and not with truth. 20Scholion20 ˉμˉη. When the ten lepers met him. But he cut off many things and made it "he sent them, saying, 'Show yourselves to the priests,'" and he put other things in place of others, saying that "there were many lepers in the days of Elisha the prophet, and none was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian." 2.144 20Refutation20 ˉμˉη. And here the Lord calls Elisha a prophet and himself as fulfilling the things that had happened in a like manner from him, in order to refute Marcion and all who reject the prophets of God. 20Scholion20 ˉμˉθ. "Days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man." 20Refutation20 ˉμˉθ. If he numbers days and signifies time and calls himself Son of Man, then he also indicated a measure of age and a pattern† of the days of his preaching. The Word therefore is not without flesh, but the good pleasure is in a body. Scholion ˉν. "Someone said to him: 'Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?' And he: 'Do not call me good; one is good, God.'" that one added "the Father" and instead of "you know the commandments" he says "I know the commandments." 20Refutation20 ˉν. So that he might not show the commandments already written beforehand, he says, "I know the commandments." But the whole chapter is clear from the sequence. And if he asserts the Father is good and calls him God, he rightly teaches from the law of his Father the one wishing to inherit life and he does not set aside nor reject, but rather testifies that those who lived according to the law have inherited eternal life, both Moses and the other prophets. 20Scholion20 ˉνˉα. "And it happened that as he was drawing near to Jericho a blind man was crying out:
