Calm weather. having fair weather. but eudieinos with a diphthong. evident. manifest. easy to carry in one's arms. light. Its opposite is *dysmenes*. to him who uses the ash spear well. and *melia* is a type of tree, from which they make the war spears. *o eumelias*, *tou eumeliao*, *tou eumelieo*. for this is the complete form. and it is an Ionian form. from having, that is, guarding the bedchamber (*eunen*). for they say *echein* means to take care of and to guard. -he himself has the pillars. epsilon.901 but some say it is from having a good mind, and being freed from the things of Aphrodite. and the ancients called the things of Aphrodite 'senseless', as in Aristophanes; to abstain from both sleep and all senseless things. a sea. known as the Pontus, or the Pontus itself. This was first called *axenos* (inhospitable) because it was inhabited by pirates, and no stranger would put in there. But by antiphrasis it was called *euxeinos* (hospitable), because Heracles, having cast out the pirates, settled it with hospitable people. fragrant. of one who keeps his oath. pious.
