good. 1010a Ps 104,26 Since not all are able of themselves and through themselves to depart from what is harmful, to those who are thus weak God sends guides and leaders who are able of the way that leads to good things. And these are the law of God, Moses, and the high-priestly word of which Aaron is a symbol; the one declaring what must be done, the other ministering to God on our behalf and conveying His graces to us; using these as leaders, we flee Egypt. 1011 Ps 104,37 But according to the spiritual sense you will understand how each one of those in these tribes, having health and strength, will say I can do all things through him who strengthens me, and being rich both in good works and in all speech and all knowledge, in silver and in gold, he is brought out of Egypt by God. For it is impossible for anyone who is weak and deprived of the aforementioned gold and silver to come out of Egypt.
1012 Ps 105,4-6 The present voice is especially that of the saints before the advent of the Savior, entreating, that the Lord might remember them in the good pleasure of his people, which he was pleased in his beloved son to save, having judged his own people and the world; for pointing to him he says, This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased. Since, therefore, the divine prophets saw with the eye of the mind, desiring to see and to hear the things done and spoken by Jesus, they ask that they be remembered in the salvation according to the good pleasure. And Christ is often called the salvation of God, as also in "All flesh shall see the salvation of our God." The Baptist's father, revealing this visitation concerning God, says, "Through the tender mercy of our God, whereby the dayspring from on high has visited us." And when he has visited us in his salvation, it will be ours to become his elect and to behold in the goodness of his elect the joy that is brought to fulfillment and to rejoice in the divine feasting of the nation that is filled from all who believe. And may it be granted to us also to be praised with his inheritance, that is, that which he will offer us as heirs or that inheritance which he has. And what is this but the church from the Gentiles according to "Ask of me, and I shall give thee the nations for thine inheritance"? For hereafter, attending to the law spiritually according to the gospel, they are praised with the aforementioned inheritance. And they are praised by God and by the holy powers who receive those who hasten to be well-pleasing to God. And the divine men, also taking up the person of those who repent for the evil they have done, and teaching how one must repent after sins, say, not "We are sinning," but "We have sinned with our fathers"; calling fathers either their ancestors and forefathers or those who had begotten them in wickedness. Therefore they put everything they would say in confession into the past tense, stating "We have sinned, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly." And it is good that in enumerating the things for which they repent, they do not say "We have been impious"; for not being outside the Godhead but encompassed by it, being overcome by passions and a wicked disposition, they sinned and did the other things. 1013 Ps 105,9 He who rebuked the Red Sea has been confessed by all to be God. If, therefore, Jesus also rebukes the tossing sea, so that out of a great wave or surge there might be a calm, he is shown to be God, being himself the one who rebuked the Red Sea or the son of that one. Nevertheless, when God rebuked the Red Sea, it was dried up, so that what was formerly the sea, and called an abyss because of the multitude of its waters, became passable. 1014 Ps 105,19 And they made a calf in Horeb, having an image brought from Egypt of the Apis in Memphis. Therefore they worshiped this calf and other graven images, being held fast by the drama of polytheism. a calf, then,
