325.t TO MAGNINIANUS 325.1 The letter from your Reverence was sufficient to bring about every joy for us. But now Ikelion, the most modest of women, our common daughter, by delivering the letter, has increased our joy more than twofold, not only by being a living image of your goodness, but also by showing on her own part every care for virtue. So that, having at first received her gladly on your account, we later, after associating with her, called you blessed on her account, because rewards for such a rearing of a child await you from the Lord God. But may we one day see you yourself and enjoy the good things in you, with neither illness nor any other difficulty hindering our meeting.
326.t AN UNADDRESSED LETTER OF ADMONITION
326.1 The holy God has given us a most suitable occasion for a letter by making this brother known to us, the man whom we have employed as the bearer of this written communication of ours on his return to your Honor, praying to God that you, advancing to greater distinction and glory, may adorn both us and our entire fatherland by your own virtue. But we exhort you throughout your whole life to remember the God who created and honored you, so that, in addition to the splendor of this life, you may also be deemed worthy of heavenly glory, for the sake of which everything must be done by us who direct our lives toward the blessed hope.
327.t AN UNADDRESSED LETTER OF EXHORTATION
327.1 For the ways in which you have honored us while present and deign to remember us while absent (for the report came to us), may there be a recompense to you from the good Master, and may we see you on the great day of the righteous judgment of our God approved for your good works, so that, just as you have been deemed worthy of distinction here, so also you may enjoy honor with the heavenly King. We exhort you, therefore, first to offer constant zeal to the Church of God, and then also to increase your good will toward us, deeming us worthy of all remembrance and protection, and to honor us also with letters, so that having proof that you are not burdened by our writing, we may make bold to write to your Magnanimity more frequently.
328.t TO HYPERECHIUS
328.1 I both greet your Honor and pray for good things for you, and I report to you, who are eager to know our situation in every way, that I am faring no better than usual. For I spare you the more ill-omened details, so that I may not greatly grieve one who prays with us for the best.
329.t TO PHALERIUS
329.1 I was very pleasantly delighted with the river fish, bearing a grudge against their flight when they fled, slipping away from their shelter from the cold. But your letters are more precious to us than fish. So write rather than send. But if it is more pleasant for you to be silent, at least do not cease praying for us.
