For this reason, therefore, being then in error, they not only anticipated by two days in their confusion, having eaten the Passover, but also having added the intercalated one day *, being in error in every way; but the economy of truth wrought all things for us most accurately for our salvation. Whence also the Savior himself, having completed the Passover, went out to the mountain after having eaten, having "desired with desire." And he ate that Jewish Passover with his disciples, not doing otherwise, but himself doing as those who did it were doing, so that he might not abolish the law, but fulfill it. And so after passing his thirtieth year when he was baptized, and after the thirty-first, having preached a most full acceptable year that was not disputed, and having preached another year that was disputed and was in persecution and wrath, and after this having passed another year from the day of his birth, that is, Epiphany, which happens on the fifth day dawning into the sixth of the month of January, but according to the Egyptians is the eleventh of Tybi, for a whole seventy-four days, as we said before, until the thirteenth day before the Kalends of April, * and according to the Egyptians the twenty-fourth of Phamenoth, he completed thirty-two most full years and seventy-four days from Epiphany. And having risen on the twenty-sixth of Phamenoth according to the Egyptians, which was the equinox, the night having passed, and the equal-night after the 2.299 twenty-fifth and before the 11th Kalends of April *, so that all who are not sons of the truth may be found to be lying. 28. Immediately, Valentinus was the first * to contrive a drama, supposing for us thirty aeons from the thirty years * of the Savior's upbringing and human maturity of his age, not knowing that he did not just complete thirty years, but was baptized in his thirtieth year after completing twenty-nine years and ten months, on the twelfth of Athyr as I said before, six days before the Ides of November, and after these things having preached * an acceptable year of the Lord and after the first year another disputed year and seventy-four disputed days, since he was baptized sixty days before his birthday; so that the total years of his incarnate presence until the passion, from his birth, are 32 years and 74 days, and from the beginning * of the consulate of Silanus and Nerva two years and 134 days. And here the aforementioned Valentinus and the many who foolishly follow him have been refuted. And those who reject the Gospel according to John have also been refuted, whom I would rightly call Alogi, since they reject the Logos of God, the paternal God the Logos proclaimed through John, who came down from heaven and wrought salvation for us through his entire incarnate presence, because from the consulates and from the years and from the constitution of the prophet Isaiah and from the Gospel according to Luke and from that according to John and from that according to Matthew and from that according to Mark and, simply, from every quarter the deceived have been refuted, that he did not only complete one Passover after the beginning of his preaching in the course of a year's time, but he also fulfilled periods of almost three consulates after his baptism by John. And the argument of the illogical has fallen completely from its error * and 2.300 folly and ignorance, not only not knowing its own life, but also falsely and vainly warring against the truth. 29.
