Now those of the circumcision, drawing upon themselves the curse of their fathers, are accustomed to anathematize our savior and lord and all who have believed in him with blasphemous and impious words, for this reason he adds in succession, "They will curse, but you will bless; 10.3.21 let those who rise up against me be ashamed, but your servant will rejoice. Let those who accuse me be clothed with confusion, and let them cover themselves with their shame as with a double cloak. But I will give thanks to the Lord with my mouth, and in the midst of many I will praise him. Because he stood at the right hand of a poor man, to save my soul from those who persecute it." 10.3.22 And it is quite clear with how many evils those who still even now make curses against him in their own synagogues struggle, having been unable to recover at all from those times, and how he himself prepares praise to the Father in the midst of many nations through his new covenant, having the Father as a co-worker and seated at his own right hand. For this reason he says: "in the midst of many I will praise him, because he stood at the right hand of a poor man". 10.3.23 And he teaches of his salvation after death, saying: "to save my soul from those who persecute it". 10.3.24 For having said above, "he persecuted a poor and needy man, and one broken in heart, to put him to death", and clearly showing his own death, concluding the prophecy, he hinted at his salvation after death, saying: "because he stood at the right hand of a poor man, to save my soul from those who persecute it". 10.4.1 From Zechariah. "And I will take for myself two rods: the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Cord, and I will shepherd my sheep. And I will cut off the three shepherds in one month, and my soul will be grieved for them, for their souls also cried out against me. And I said, I will not shepherd you: let that which is dying, die, and that which is fainting, faint, and let the rest eat, each one the flesh of his neighbor. And I will take the good rod, and I will cast it away to break my covenant which I made with all the peoples; and it will be broken on that day, and the Canaanites, the sheep that are kept for me, will know that it is the word of the Lord. And I will say to them, If it is good in your sight, give me my wages, or else forbear; and they weighed for my wages thirty pieces of silver. And the Lord said to me, Cast them into the foundry, and see if it is approved, in what manner I was tested for them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver and cast them into the house of the Lord into the foundry. And I cast away the second rod, the Cord, to break the covenant between Judah and between Israel." 10.4.2 And these things were fulfilled, when according to Luke, Judas "went away" and "spoke with the chief priests and scribes and captains of the temple, how he might betray him to them. And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money," and according to Mark when he "went to the chief priests, to betray him, and they were glad and promised to give him money." 10.4.3 But in these, the money is named simply, but in Matthew the number is also mentioned, agreeing with the quotation from Zechariah. 10.4.4 Matthew therefore says: "Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said to them, What are you willing to give me, and I will deliver him to you? And they set for him thirty staters." These things therefore are in agreement with "and they weighed for my wages thirty pieces of silver" said in the prophecy by the Lord, 10.4.5 for which Symmachus rendered: "and they weighed my wages, thirty pieces of silver," and Aquila: "and they set my wages, thirty pieces of silver." To which is added: "And the Lord said to me, Cast them into the foundry, and see if it is approved, in what manner
