or rather, divine husbandmen guiding others to truly good actions, to works of salvation. To these—let everyone hear!—having believed and having done and having given myself wholly to the hands of the husbandmen and servants of God according to his command, I found all things have come to pass in me without change, and I was amazed, and I cry out to all, shouting with a loud voice and exhorting and saying: for I cannot bear to bury these things in silence. Run, as many of you as feel yourselves to be outside the hands of God and of his saints. Hasten and cling to them inseparably in faith, with fervent love and whole purpose, (398) cast away all your own thought and will, and give your souls into their hands, like lifeless tools, doing nothing or moving or acting at all apart from them. And let their thought become yours, and likewise their holy will, as being the will of God, be fulfilled by you, and thus, having travelled a short and wholly unhindered path, you will become friends of God Most High, and you will be shown to be heirs of the kingdom of heaven and of unspeakable good things in a few days. For as soon as you embark upon the straight way, you will be numbered with all the saints, and, all you blessed mortals, pray—all you who have willingly desired to walk in it and to follow fervently in the footsteps of Christ—for one who has sinned and traversed this rough road, which is narrow and short and safe, and leads to the breadth of eternal life, as one who has shown it to you, so that both I and you may be found in it, journeying blamelessly until the end of life, and also as many as long to see Christ, so that together with joy, leaving our bodies, we may enter into the rest that is there, into the breadth of paradise, and be shown to be heirs of life and inseparable from God and all the saints in Christ the only-begotten Son and God the Word with the Divine Spirit, of the Holy Trinity
