58.521 he gave, nor would he have silenced her again; but just as He does in the case of the centurion, saying, I will come and heal him, so that we might learn his reverence, and hear him say, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof; and just as He does in the case of the woman with the issue of blood, saying, I know that power has gone out from me, so that He might make her faith manifest; and just as in the case of the Samaritan woman, so that He might show how even when reproved she does not depart; so also here. For He did not wish such great virtue of a woman to be hidden. So that the things He said were not those of one insulting, but of one calling forth, and uncovering the treasure laid up within. But see for me, along with her faith, her humility also. For He called the Jews children; but she was not content with this, but even called them lords; so far was she from being pained by the praises of others. For even the dogs, she says, eat of the crumbs which fall from the table of their masters. Did you see the woman's understanding, how she did not dare to speak against Him, nor was she stung by the praises of others, nor was she indignant at the insult? Did you see her vigor? He said, It is not right; but she said, Yes, Lord; He called them children, but she called them lords; He called her a dog, but she added even the work of the dog. Did you see her humility? Hear the boasting of the Jews. We are Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man; and, We are born of God. But not she; rather she calls herself a dog, and them lords; for this very reason she became a child. What then does Christ say? O woman, great is your faith. For for this reason He delayed, so that He might cry out this word, so that He might crown the woman. Be it done for you as you wish. And what He says is this: Your faith can accomplish even greater things than these; nevertheless, be it done for you as you wish. This is akin to that voice that says: Let there be heaven, and there was. And her daughter was healed from that very hour. Did you see how she also contributed no small part to the healing of her little daughter? For this reason Christ did not say, Let your little daughter be healed; but, Great is your faith, be it done for you as you wish; so that you might learn that the words were not simply flattery, but that the power of faith was great. He therefore entrusted her exact testing and proof to the outcome of the events. Therefore her little daughter was healed immediately. 3. But consider for me, how when the apostles were defeated and did not accomplish it, she accomplished it. So great is the persistence of prayer. For He wishes to be entreated for our own matters by us who are responsible, rather than by others on our behalf. And yet they had greater boldness; but she showed great perseverance. And by the outcome, He also made His defense to the disciples for the delay, and showed that He had rightly not consented to their request. And departing from there, Jesus came to the Sea of Galilee; and going up on the mountain, He sat there. And great crowds came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, maimed, mute; and they cast them down at his feet; and He healed them, so that the crowds marveled, seeing the mute 58.522 speaking, the maimed whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel. Sometimes He goes about, sometimes He sits waiting for the sick, and leads the lame up to the mountain. And they no longer touch even His garment, but they ascend to a higher place, being cast at His feet; and they showed their twofold faith, both by ascending the mountain while lame, and by needing nothing else, but only to be cast at His feet. And great was the wonder and marvel, to see those who were carried walking, the crippled not needing guides. For both the multitude of those being healed and the ease of the healing astounded them. Did you see how He healed the woman after such a delay, but these immediately? not because these were better than she, but because
