The following is a copy: The subscribed faith of the followers of Marcellus. 11. «To the most reverend and most holy bishops exiled in Diocæsarea for the orthodox faith in our Savior Jesus Christ, to Eulogius, Adelphius, Alexander, Ammonius, Harpocration, Isaac, Isidore, Annoubion, Pitimus, Euphratius, Aaron, the presbyters from Ancyra in Galatia, Photinus, Eustathius, another Photinus, Sigerius, and the deacon Hyginus, and the subdeacon Heraclides, and the reader Elpidius, and the patron Kyriakos, greeting in the Lord.» «Since we have come to your God-fearing presence from our aforementioned homeland, making a fitting visit, and being questioned by your holiness concerning the faith we hold, and having welcomed such a caring inquiry from you, which you made especially because of those who wish to circulate certain false things about us in vain, we deemed it necessary to fully inform you concerning this, not only from the letters of communion written to us by the thrice-blessed Pope Athanasius, which were shown to your holiness by us, but also from this our written confession, that we neither believe nor have we ever believed anything outside the ecumenical and ecclesiastical faith defined at Nicaea, which we confess † by power 3.266 to hold, anathematizing those who dare to call the Son or the Holy Spirit a creature, and the Arian heresy and that of Sabellius and of Photinus and of Paul of Samosata, and those who do not say the Holy Trinity is three persons, uncircumscribed and subsistent and consubstantial and co-eternal and self-existent, and anathematizing also those who say the Son is an extension or contraction or energy of the Father, and those who do not confess God the Word, the Son of God, to be the pre-eternal and co-eternal with the Father and subsistent and self-existent Son and God. 12. If anyone says the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit are the same, let him be anathema. if anyone gives a beginning or an end to the Son of God and Word or to His kingdom, let him be anathema. if anyone says the Son or the Holy Spirit is a part of the Father, and does not confess that the Son of God was begotten from the essence of the Father before all thought, let him be anathema. And concerning the incarnation of God the Word, the only-begotten Son of God, we confess that the Son of God also became man without sin, by the assumption of the whole human nature, that is, a rational and intelligent soul and human flesh. We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of all things visible and invisible, and in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, begotten from the Father, only-begotten, that is, from the essence of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father, through whom all things were made, both things in heaven and things on earth, who for us men and for our salvation came down and was incarnate and was made man, suffered and rose again on the third day, ascended into the heavens, and is coming to judge the living and the dead, and in the Holy Spirit. But those who say, ‘There was a time when he was not,’ and ‘Before he was begotten, he was not,’ and that he came into being from non-existence, or who assert that the Son of God is of another hypostasis or essence, or is created, or is subject to change or alteration—these the Catholic and Apostolic Church anathematizes. I, Photinus, presbyter of the Catholic Church in Ancyra, so believe and think as is written above. I, Eustathius, presbyter of the same, so believe and think as is written above. 3.267 I, Photinus, presbyter of the same, so believe and think as is written above. I, Sigerius, presbyter of the same, so believe and think as is written above. I, Hyginus
