But I know in this, having heard from someone, that the Hebrew language here mentioned Mary; for "Mariam" signifies the name of Mary, so that through these things the Theotokos was mentioned by name. The Lord swore, and will not repent, You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. The Lord at your right hand has shattered kings in the day of his wrath. He will judge among the nations, he will fill them with corpses, he will shatter heads over the land. He will drink from the brook on the way; therefore he will lift up his head. It seems to me very consistent that the present text was joined to the preceding phrase. For even if you indeed endured birth from the womb, he says, and were born like dew from the Holy Spirit in your childhood, having taken on flesh, yet you will not make an end of your life in the same way as other men; but you will remain forever serving as a priest to God the Father.
