in prophecies; and thirdly, the ordinances of the Spirit, as ordering the mercy seat and the holy of holies in the Gospels for its own dwelling, and a holy tabernacle, a holy people, which has the one righteous one alone who is with them. and in it dwells one infinite Godhead, one incorruptible Godhead, one Godhead incomprehensible, ungraspable, ineffable, invisible, knowing itself alone, revealing itself to whom it wills, raising up for itself witnesses, calling, predestining, glorifying, raising from Hades, sanctifying, again uniting to its own glory and faith these three things, things in heaven, things on earth, and things under the earth, spirit, soul, flesh, faith, hope, love, things past, present, and to come, eternal things, the age of an age, the ages of ages, sabbaths of sabbaths, circumcision of the flesh, circumcision of the heart, "the circumcision of Christ in putting off the body of sins"; and in general it purifies all things for itself, things invisible and visible, thrones, dominions, principalities, authorities, powers; and in all is the same holy voice, from glory to glory crying holy, holy, holy, glorifying the Father in the Son, and the Son in the Father with the Holy Spirit, to whom be the glory and the power for ever and ever, amen. And he who so believes will say, so be it, so be it. The things from the Ancoratus are completed. 11. And these are the things which we, writing about the faith of the Father and Son and Holy Spirit, have already explained according to the very least of our mediocrity and have set forth from the things spoken before. And further we will persist for the establishment of our own life, piously bringing testimonies and piously treating of the Godhead from right reasoning. For that in the things before this it was demonstrated through many testimonies that the Only-begotten cooperates with the Father and accomplishes and bestows equal things in all respects, as being from him and not different from the power and divinity of the Father, but consubstantial with the Father, and not only the Son, but also the Holy Spirit cooperating with the Son and the Father and working, giving and bestowing equal things as it wills, as being itself truly from God and not alien to the Father and the Son, but consubstantial with the Father and the Son, is clear to everyone and was demonstrated and will be demonstrated in all respects from so many testimonies. But now on account of the adversaries and enemies of the Holy Spirit, concerning the Holy Spirit alone, having related the pious things of right reasoning and the things from the testimonies of the same divine scripture, we shall set them forth more abundantly with the previous testimonies, in accordance with the true piety concerning the Holy Spirit; for as it is and exists, the Holy Spirit is one, worshipped by all, longed for by all creatures and creations, not equalled by any, not by an angel, not by another spirit, but one; for since there are many spirits, this one is the highest of all spirits, as being always from the Father and not being from the others that came to be out of nothing. For there are many spirits, but one is the Holy Spirit; just as there is one God and one only-begotten Son of God, so also there is one Holy Spirit of God, from God and in God. But the only-begotten Son is incomprehensible, and the Spirit is incomprehensible, but from God and not alien to the Father and the Son. But it is not a confusion with the Father and the Son, but a Trinity always existing of the same substance, not a different substance from the Godhead, not a different Godhead from the substance, but the same Godhead, and from the same Godhead are the Son and the Holy Spirit. And the Spirit is Holy Spirit, and the Son is Son. And the Spirit proceeds from the Father and receives from the Son, "searching the depths of God," "announcing" the things of the Son in the world, sanctifying the saints through the Trinity; third in name, since the Trinity is Father and Son and Holy Spirit—"Go," he says, "baptize in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,"—the seal of grace, the bond of the Trinity, not alien to the number, not separated from the name, not alien to the gift, but one
