coming down and being brought from Egypt and returning to Nazareth, and coming to be in the Jordan and being baptized by John, and being tempted by the devil, and choosing disciples in truth, and having preached the kingdom of heaven as all things are found in truth, being betrayed by Judas, and 3.448 being seized by the Jews, being brought before Pontius Pilate and being condemned to death by him, being handed over to the cross, saying "I thirst," "give me to drink," in truth receiving vinegar with gall, tasting and no longer accepting the drink, being nailed to the cross in truth crying out "Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani," in truth bowing his head and breathing his last, in truth his body being taken down and received, in truth and being wrapped by Joseph and placed in a tomb, in truth sealed with a stone; descending in divinity with his soul into Hades and loosing those who were bound in courage and in power, ascending, God the Word with his holy soul, with which he rescued the captives, for the three days in truth, rising with his body and soul and every organ in truth, being found with the disciples for the forty days, blessing them on the mount of olives in truth, ascending into heaven in truth, while his disciples watched him being taken up into the clouds in truth, having sat and sitting at the right hand of the father in truth, in the same body and divinity, in the same perfect incarnation, by which he united all things into one and a single spiritual perfection, being God sitting in glory, coming to judge the living and the dead in truth. And nothing is changed, but all things are perfectly and completely worked in him in perfection. 36. And thinking it well concerning these things, we have deemed it right that these things be said up to this point. But concerning the superfluous words which we have again heard from those who say such things, it is necessary also to point them out. We do not at all believe that it is so sung among them; nevertheless we will not be silent about what we have heard. For some even dared to say that again some of them say concerning Mary, that after she had borne the Christ, she was joined to her husband Joseph. I wonder if they themselves say this. But there are those who say this, whom we also numbered among the schisms, having been asked and having written a letter in Arabia to certain ones against those who say this. And we have said many things there concerning this in the treatise against them. And in order, in God, I will also append it separately. Others said that the old man had said that in the first resurrection we complete a certain millennium, living in the same ways 3.449 as now, so as to keep both the law and other things and everything of use in the world, partaking of marriage and circumcision and the others; which we do not at all believe about him. But as some have affirmed, they said that he had said this. And it is clear that it has been written concerning this millennium in the Apocalypse of John and that the book is believed by most and by the God-fearing. But most and the devout, reading the book, knowing about spiritual things and taking spiritual things in it spiritually, have believed them to be true, but clarified in depth. For not only this is said there profoundly, but also many other things. 37. But at the present time for the sake of brevity I have only become a reminder in my account, so that the God-fearing may know that for anyone who wishes to overstep the bounds of the holy church of God and the tradition of the prophetic and apostolic faith and teaching * the hope, from the one hypothesis of the small and brief account according to the momentary and perhaps digressive occurrence of thought, the reasoning into many empty speeches and erroneous suspicions and into unsuitable
