Epistula ad Palladium
Of our Father among the saints ATHANASIUS, archbishop of Alexandria, a letter to JOHN and ANTIOCHUS the presbyters.
Athanasius to John and Antiochus, his beloved sons and fellow presbyters, greeting in the Lord. I rejoiced to receive your letter now also, especially because you wrote from Jerusalem; and I am grateful to you, because you made known about the brothers, those gathered there, and about those who wish on the pretext of questions to disturb the simple. But concerning these things, let the Apostle command, Not to pay attention to those who 26.1168 dispute about words, and who seek nothing else than to say or hear something new. But you, having the sure foundation, which is Jesus Christ our Lord, and the confession of the Fathers concerning the truth, turn away from those who wish to speak anything more or less than this, and rather be for the benefit of the brothers, in fearing God, and keeping his commandments; so that both from the teaching of the Fathers, and from the keeping of the commandments they may be able to appear well-pleasing to the Lord on the day of judgment. And I have greatly marveled at the audacity of those who dare to speak against our beloved, the truly servant of God, Basil the bishop. For from such nonsense they will be able to be convicted, as not even loving the confession of the Fathers. Greet the brothers. Those with me greet you. I pray that you may be strong in the Lord, beloved and most longed-for sons.

Epistula ad Palladium
